Mr.Tenderfoot

Y'all I don't even know where to begin with the craziness that is my dating life when it is fresh new line up.
But I'll try.
Two weekends ago I was at my brother's house for his birthday party.

I met my cousin Bella before hand.
She came with her boyfriend and his friend.
She hopped in my car and gave me the low down on his friend.

He had been dating his girlfriend for 4.5 years and they broke up 2.5 weeks ago.
She apparently freaked because he bought a house and that was much too serious for the girlfriend.
SO in order to cheer him up Bella brought him along.
And she had invited two of her sort of crazy and wild girlfriends from work.
They were there to flirt with him and cheer him up.

As we awaited these cheer up girls to arrive.
I ended up chatting casually with him.
He had been having a really rough two and a half weeks.
And then he tried to open a bottle of wine and as much as he tried he couldn't do it.
And then I did it...easily (I tried to make him feel better telling him he loosened it...he didn't buy it).

Then he tried to open a beer and promptly sheared off the top part getting glass in it.
Seriously...buddy was having an off night.
And really I didn't think too much about him.
Turns out we went to the same high school...only we missed each other because he is 6 years younger than me.

As the night progressed I think those other girls were a little too aggressive for him.
So then we all headed out to a bar in my hometown much to my dismay (seeing as I was in a cotton dress, tights, flats and a cardigan...not exactly bar attire).
We all were out and the funny thing is was in the first 10 minutes I kept getting approached.
Everyone found it quite amusing.

And then like always Bella and her boyfriend got in a screaming match.

Which lead to us suggesting we just leave.
So we headed back to Bella and her boyfriends house.
Where they continued to fight and we finally decided that Bella and I would stay there and the boys would stay at her boyfriend's friends house.

The next day we decided to have a lazy day of watching movies and eating wings.
Bella and her boyfriend were still trading jabs with each other.
So me and the Bella's boyfriends friend (okay I think I just need to come up with something to keep it simple how about Mr.Tenderfoot (hey he is SIX years younger than I am...clearly I have an issue with it) would just exchange looks.

So at the end of the night I was heading back to my parents place.
Bella's boyfriend was complaining about being tired so I offered to drive Mr.Tenderfoot home.
He invited me in for a drink and to show me his new place.
It was adorable because clearly he was super excited about it.

And then he jokingly said at the end of the night "I make a really good breakfast" (which is the bad pickup line we had all talked about earlier in the night...remember when this Mr tried to use it on me???)
Anywho I laughed and said I better go.
A quick hug later I headed home.
Not thinking too much about it.
I mean he was super handsome and fun BUT he's SUPER young and he lives in the city I basically can't stand.

When I got home he texted me...telling me Bella never told him before that she had a gorgeous cousin and that he didn't say that before because he had a really hard time reading me.
He wanted to let me know that he thought I was a really down to earth girl and he was happy we met.
We chatted a bit back and forth the next day...when he invited me to go to a concert with him the following Friday.  It seemed like a fun thing so I agreed.
Because seriously he is TWENTY-FIVE and I at least deserve to have a little fun if not get my groove back just a little...

Busy

Pic from here
Y'all I'm not sure how this happens every few weeks.
Where I randomly stop blogging.
And then rush to catch up.

Oops...let's see what has all happened since I last wrote...

  • Valentine's Day; it sucked, I had some nice messages but Valentine's Day is SO much better when you're in love.
  • Headed home for my younger brother's birthday.
  • Heading home I randomly met a guy who I didn't think was into me and is way too young but somehow ended up at a Swedish House Mafia concert and him sleeping over at my place the following weekend.
  • Had a first day with a pretty interesting guy (different guy then above).
  • Hosted a bookclub at my place.
  • Got new glasses.
  • Had a second date with the pretty interesting guy.
  • Hosted an Oscar party.
  • And am currently procrastinating from getting ready for a first date with a different boy.
So what have you been up to?
I will catch up on all these posts in the next coming days.
Promise.

Another first

Pic from here
So I broke back into dating last Sunday!
And I was so nervous.
Actually felt sick to my stomach about it.

But it was okay.
Not amazing but okay.
A Starbucks coffee date which is fine...a little uncreative but fine.
With the right person and spark and chemistry a Starbucks date is fabulous but for a first date it is a tough choice.
At least I got the jitters out a little before I go full fledged into this craziness again.

Another funny guy who said he was 5'11"
For clarity I'm all of 5'3 and 1/2" (the 1/2" is clearly important).
And when we had the awkward hug goodbye (ugh the goodbye is like the WORST part of the first date for me).  And again I was the overhugger (I've written here about that before lol).
I was in flats...so yeah there is no way this dude was 5'11".

Also you know on a first date I try to pick a cute outfit, do my hair, a little makeup.
He wore jeans and athletic running shoes (which basically gives me hives I cannot STAND that style).  A t-shirt with a zip pull over.
I guess I'm more of a formal/dress up kind of person.
Or maybe I'm just being ridiculously picky.
At least I got it out of the way...I hope it is not indicative of the next few will be lol.

Yoga x3

Hit up my third Passport to Prana class.
(Read here for my first post about it).
This one wasn't that great but I've got my yoga math down to...
$12.52 per class (now that I've taken three).
So I'm pretty much loving this Passport to Prana.
A totally reasonable way to practice yoga.

Framed

So I'm finally getting new glasses.
But of course I can't figure out which ones to get.
I only have terrible pictures of me (post yoga class).

So you'll get to see the frames only.
Originally I had my heart set on these pretty ones.
CHANEL 3242 in color 714
Picture from here and yes the detail on the arms are bows (so obviously I'm crazy about them).
But when I was in the opticians office she recommended these new ones that just came in.
She said they were more current and different.

And I just can't decide.
I only get glasses once every few years.

So should I go with the original ones that I liked or do I lean towards the more trendy ones?
I can tell you thus far that the ones my friends are leaning towards is the Chanel ones.
But as usually I can't decide!

First Thursdays

Picture from www.ago.net
So last night I went to the Art Gallery of Ontario (we call it the AGO here in Toronto).
I went with the Canada Crew.
It's an event they put on the first Thursday of each month.
They describe it as.

We’re bringing it all together
– art, artists, live music, food, drinks and you –
for one fun-filled Thursday each month.
Grab a drink, roam the galleries and make art.
All in one night.

And the best part is the tickets are $10 (cheaper than the regular $19.50 admission price and WAY more fun!)
Here's the poster from the February 2013 First Thursday we went to last night.
www.ago.net
They had awesome Toronto street food.
Hard to pick between grilled cheese, samosas  empanadas, pulled pork sandwiches  lemon and rosemary potato chips, and caramel rice crispy squares.

So we ate and sipped cocktails and roamed the gallery.
AND we even participated in the interactive grafitti modge podge wall art.
Want to know what I contributed...that's right I saw the Boy Crazy on the wall...and flipping through magazines looking for photos I found this Cosmo Quiz that seemed rather appropriate to post beside lol.
And now I (currently) unofficially have my "art" hanging in a renouned art gallery.

don't mind the disheveled look I came from work walking through a snow storm so I looked AWFUL!

Our favourite thing was this rollercoaster bed
Imagine the fun you could have on that lol
It's an awesome event that has sold out every month since October 2013.
We had an absolute blast.

So if you have the chance I highly suggest you go because...

Sequins and Fur

This weekend was fun and fabulous.
I already let you know I hit up my second yoga class off Passport to Prana Saturday morning.
Then I helped her go to the fabric store to help pick out blouse fabric for the Indian Wedding Sarees for her mother.

Then I headed home to shower before going downtown to meet S and E for H's birthday.
All girls from the CanadaCrew.

So S and E are currently living on a ship that's docked in Toronto
(seriously that's a whole other story).
So that how I ended up having drinks beforehand on a ship.
Seriously they live on this ship...so we had drinks there before heading out.  Pick form here
Then we headed to Ossington street in Toronto and ended up at The Painted Lady.
And it was jam packed.
And we drank and danced and had a fun girly night out.
And I totally wore the LaRok sequined mini dress (from this post) and my fur coat (you can see a pic in this post) and generally created a scene Saturday night because of my outfit lol.

The next day I was at Laurel's place to help narrow down cake choices for the wedding.
Then they hosted a small Super Bowl party.
We had chicken wings and beer and it was a really nice relaxing and unwinding weekend.
I loved every bit of it.
Did you get up to anything fun?

Yoga Math

Pic from here
I first wrote about the Passport to Prana here.
Do you have it in your city?
Here is the current list of cities...

In the USA.
ATLANTA
CHICAGO
DENVER
LOS ANGELES
MIAMI
NEW YORK
PORTLAND
RALEIGH
SAN DIEGO
SAN FRANCISCO
SEATTLE
TAMPA BAY

In Canada
CALGARY
EDMONTON
MONTREAL
OTTAWA
TORONTO
VANCOUVER
VICTORIA

In Australia
BRISBANE

So I went to class number two at Moksha Scarborough.
Bring my yoga math down to $18.79 per class.
Not too shabby because this is the price of one class in the more expensive studios downtown Toronto.  Here's hoping I keep getting that number lower.

Do you passport to prana?

Boston & Hartford

Pic from here
Super excited that Laurel and I confirmed our trip in April to Boston & Hartford.
Don't know if you noticed the new counter downer thingy at the top of the blog.
And while we have only 4 short days (5 if you include the drive).
I'm super excited to have something on the calendar to count down to.

So anyone have any suggestions of things we MUST do.
It's a first time for us both in those cities.
Yay for a girly roadtrip!

a little flame

Tumblr_mhfycbmksv1rk378po1_500_large
Pic from here
So of course I'm going the days on of ignoring texts from MrRealtor...I just don't know what to say.
I'm also focusing this weekend on not being annoyed that Jacob said he was coming and then suddenly decided not to and just disappeared off the face of this earth on Wednesday...didn't even have the guts to say he wasn't coming he just disappeared (because he is a scared insecure person who can NEVER face any type of situation he runs...which is exactly what he does over and over again and I'm a total idiot for letting it happen again).  I know exactly how it will go down.  In a few weeks he'll message me and make some flimsy excuse as he tries to blame me.
And I'm dumb for even giving him the opportunity to come here.

Anywho so it makes me long for those magical 24 hours of new years.
And it makes me think of The Classmate.
And I can't help but think of him especially with my FAVOURITE song from Washington Heights
(my new obsession lol).

Which is...
Play Hard by Midi Mafia
You can listen to it here...it isn't available for free download any more :(
Or it's here on youtube...

And oh my goodness...all I can think of is the classmate.
Because he has this habit of posting quotes on facebook.
Like today he posted this quote...

"A pearl is a beautiful thing that is produced by an injured life. It is the tear [that results] from the injury of the oyster. The treasure of our being in this world is also produced by an injured life. If we had not been wounded, if we had not been injured, then we will not produce the pearl."

- Stephan Hoeller

And yesterday it was this quote...

The most successful people make the most mistakes.

And before that this one...

"You can never cross the ocean unless you have courage to lose sight of the shore." Christopher Columbus

Which I think is great.
And I'm trying not to notice him when it comes up in my feed.
But gosh facebook is so bad for that.
So I'm going to pretend that I'm not waiting for the perfect moment to post my favourite quote on my wall from my new favourite song...

But don't forget, that every rainbow needs a little rain
For every lesson learned you gonna need a little pain
For every spark love it's gotta take a little flame
And every miracle needs a little praying

Should I or Shouldn't I...

Thursday Night Out

So last night the hum drum of winter definitely settling in here.
Seriously winter in Toronto is SO dark and gray and depressing (well at least for me lol).
So a few of us decided just to grin and bear it and head out for dinner and a movie.

I met up with S and E of the CanadaCrew.
We went to Salad King.
I haven't been there since this time.
Salad King (Toronto, Canada)
Pic from here
And S and E had insider knowledge to order an off item menu.
I love stuff like that.
So if you are going to Salad King order the Islamic Noodles....which is like Pad Thai with chicken, shrimp, veggies and a red curry sauce.
It was yummo.
Pic from here
After that we headed to the movies to watch Les Mis.
And you know what it was a good night.
To get out of the cold.
Gossip with the girls.
And watch a girly musical.
Somehow going to make it through this winter.
