it's been a long weekend

So I've been trying to keep myself distracted.
Friday night I headed out to see B's new place with the rest of the Canada Crew.
We headed over to a pub for some drinks and food.
I'm going to pretend I wasn't totally distracted and thinking about MrAttorney especially when he texted and called.
I may have texted him back that night.

Then Saturday I woke up early to help my friend Kay move downtown.
What a bitter pill jealousy is to swallow.
I wish I was moving downtown.
And again the volley of texts back and forth between MrAttorney and myself is almost comical.
Moving is never this fun!
It is the second time I helped someone move in the last two months.
The first time was MrAttorney.
It always blows my mind because the last 15% of stuff out of a place is the WORST to move.
And both MrAttorney and Kay kind of aren't the most organized people.

Anywho I ended up calling B in for re-enforcement due to Kay's miscalculation of only 3 boxes and a rack of clothes became my SUV filled to the max.
After we moved her in she took us for DimSum.
One of my fav places in the city for dim sum...totally ornate and so fun!  Also going to ignore that I found out about this place from going with MrAttorney.  But it literally is across the street from Kay's new apartment.
And then made to order cookies...at The Red Bench.
Kind of like the Marble Slab Ice cream place where you pick the base and then the mix ins.
Only they make hot yummy mini cookies!!!
My new fav place for dessert.

And I'm trying to be upbeat and my usual self but I know I'm just kind of sad.
And my friends see it.
Kay told me "you need to go no contact on his ass!"
I know this is the right thing to do but boy am I struggling.

Here I go to trying to make the second half of this long weekend a bit better than the first half.
Or at least try to distract myself...

Blur

I'm sinking into a happy blur as days whip by.
I need to write about all the fun things I've been doing.

Like lunch and pedis with the girls.

A concert with the Canada Crew to see the British Indie Band The Foals.

Medieval Times with the CanadaCrew which was so fun.

Heading down to Maple Leaf Square with 15 000 others to watch the Leafs bite it in game seven

A weekend in Kingston to visit Jane, Quinn, Val, Eva and their families.

Watching Les Mis with the girls.

Heading to Taste of the Food Terminal with the Canada Crew.

And falling pretty hard for MrAttorney.
I cannot get enough of spending time with this man.
He makes me laugh and he's smart and sexy and just amazing.
I'm in big time trouble!

Another fab girl's night

Had another fantastic girl's night out last Wednesday.
It involved 7 of us girls from the Canada Crew and Ethiopian food.
Have you ever had it?
Nazareth
Pic from link below

Besides being delicious and a TON of food...our bill for 7 of us (plus 1-2 beers/wines each) came to $94.73!

We will definitely being doing this again.
We went to a place called Nazareth.
Pic from here
We already have put on the calendar an Ethiopian night in May!
And it is super great that I am finally feeling like I have a great group of girlfriends here in Toronto...and that my fellow bloggers is BLISS!

Drag Queens, Ships and Burritos

So last Saturday it was E's birthday (from the Canada Crew).
I mentioned before that S and E live on a ship.
So that's where we started the celebration.

Before heading off to El Convento Rico.
A packed bar.
Known for it's drag queens.
And we danced and laughed our night away.
Pic from here
At the very end my date from the night before showed up.
And I was stunned that he would come all the way across town.
To a drag queen bar just to have a drink.

After we headed to Burrito Boyz for late night Burritos.
And it was nice even if the burritos kind of suck compared to Dallas.

Pic from here
I ended up spending the night on the ship which was super fun.
My blurry iPhone shot from the ship when I headed in that night.

And it was a fun Saturday night.
Which I desperately needed.

First Thursdays

Picture from www.ago.net
So last night I went to the Art Gallery of Ontario (we call it the AGO here in Toronto).
I went with the Canada Crew.
It's an event they put on the first Thursday of each month.
They describe it as.

We’re bringing it all together
– art, artists, live music, food, drinks and you –
for one fun-filled Thursday each month.
Grab a drink, roam the galleries and make art.
All in one night.

And the best part is the tickets are $10 (cheaper than the regular $19.50 admission price and WAY more fun!)
Here's the poster from the February 2013 First Thursday we went to last night.
www.ago.net
They had awesome Toronto street food.
Hard to pick between grilled cheese, samosas  empanadas, pulled pork sandwiches  lemon and rosemary potato chips, and caramel rice crispy squares.

So we ate and sipped cocktails and roamed the gallery.
AND we even participated in the interactive grafitti modge podge wall art.
Want to know what I contributed...that's right I saw the Boy Crazy on the wall...and flipping through magazines looking for photos I found this Cosmo Quiz that seemed rather appropriate to post beside lol.
And now I (currently) unofficially have my "art" hanging in a renouned art gallery.

don't mind the disheveled look I came from work walking through a snow storm so I looked AWFUL!

Our favourite thing was this rollercoaster bed
Imagine the fun you could have on that lol
It's an awesome event that has sold out every month since October 2013.
We had an absolute blast.

So if you have the chance I highly suggest you go because...

Sequins and Fur

This weekend was fun and fabulous.
I already let you know I hit up my second yoga class off Passport to Prana Saturday morning.
Then I helped her go to the fabric store to help pick out blouse fabric for the Indian Wedding Sarees for her mother.

Then I headed home to shower before going downtown to meet S and E for H's birthday.
All girls from the CanadaCrew.

So S and E are currently living on a ship that's docked in Toronto
(seriously that's a whole other story).
So that how I ended up having drinks beforehand on a ship.
Seriously they live on this ship...so we had drinks there before heading out.  Pick form here
Then we headed to Ossington street in Toronto and ended up at The Painted Lady.
And it was jam packed.
And we drank and danced and had a fun girly night out.
And I totally wore the LaRok sequined mini dress (from this post) and my fur coat (you can see a pic in this post) and generally created a scene Saturday night because of my outfit lol.

The next day I was at Laurel's place to help narrow down cake choices for the wedding.
Then they hosted a small Super Bowl party.
We had chicken wings and beer and it was a really nice relaxing and unwinding weekend.
I loved every bit of it.
Did you get up to anything fun?

Thursday Night Out

So last night the hum drum of winter definitely settling in here.
Seriously winter in Toronto is SO dark and gray and depressing (well at least for me lol).
So a few of us decided just to grin and bear it and head out for dinner and a movie.

I met up with S and E of the CanadaCrew.
We went to Salad King.
I haven't been there since this time.
Salad King (Toronto, Canada)
Pic from here
And S and E had insider knowledge to order an off item menu.
I love stuff like that.
So if you are going to Salad King order the Islamic Noodles....which is like Pad Thai with chicken, shrimp, veggies and a red curry sauce.
It was yummo.
Pic from here
After that we headed to the movies to watch Les Mis.
And you know what it was a good night.
To get out of the cold.
Gossip with the girls.
And watch a girly musical.
Somehow going to make it through this winter.

Party Dress

So one of my girl friends from the CanadaCrew recommended a website called ModCloth.
Have you heard of it?
They had this massive 70% sale so I thought it would be a good time to check it out.

And y'all!!!!!!!

I'm such a dress girl...I would wear dresses every single day if I could.
So you could imagine I was having a field day!

I had to narrow it down (so hard).
And these were the final pics.
Also shipping was $14.95 (SO good for US to Canada) and no duty or taxes (score!!!)

The Painted Lady Dress
$28.99
The Goldleaf Glamour Dress
$27.99
The Perfect in Petals Dress
$26.99
The Sea and Santorini Dress
$47.99
I loved this dress because of the back!
Clearly I love bows and polka dots.
And my fav...The Traveling Cupcake Truck Dress
$59.99
So 5 dresses for under $200!
Ummm yes please.
It's going to be a summer full of dresses.
Now only if this weather will cooperate!

Another book club meeting

Before we knew it it was time for book club again.
I always look forward to it.
So glad we came up with this idea for the cold winter months.

As usual amazing things were had.
This month's book was A Street Cat Named Bob.

Our opinions were split right down the middle.
The three who had cats growing up LOVED it.
The three of us who did not have cats/dog people didn't like it at all.
Obviously we are super cool and happen to like charts and graphs lol!

But who cares?!
Books club is really an excuse for us to eat, drink, and chat.

Our theme was English Picnic...how cute is this setup?

Apparently this is a British thing (says our British expat friends)....we weren't sure if they were pulling our legs!

British candies

Scotch Eggs...there is no actual Scotch in them...they are eggs wrapped in sausage

My obsession Nadege bakery and their Salted Caramel Tarte...AMAZINGNESS!

Can't wait until the next one.
Though I'm a wee bit nervous because I'm hosting.
Can you believe the girls (who ALL live downtown I know I'm super jealous!) are all coming up to my area?!
Mixture of nervousness and excitement.

Gotta get down on Friday

So after the first full week back to work I was really looking forward to Friday.
I was stoked because the CanadaCrew girls and I had purchased a GroupOn to go see Avenue Q (a musical).
So how else would we start it off then food (obviously).

We first tried to go to Golden Turtle for Pho on Ossington.
When we got there however there was a sign saying closed for Christmas (boo).
So we headed down the street to Photien Thanh Vietnamese Restaurant.
Pic from here
We quickly all caught up and giggles and stories ensued.
I told them about my most amazing New Years in Miami.
And it was great to get out of cold rainy weather and eat yummy Pho.
Pic from here
After that we headed to the lower ossington theatre.
A smaller theatre on Ossington.
Pic from here
We grabbed glasses of wine/beer (depending on preference).
And settled in to watch Avenue Q.
I literally had NO idea what to expect.

Here's the synopsis from the playbill.
"Avenue Q is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who movies into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q.  There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie (the internet sexpert), Lucy the Slut (need we say more?), and other colourful types who help Princeton finally discover his purpose in life!"

Pic from here
And we quickly found ourselves giggling away to this rather inappropriate musical.
Here is a TV friendly preview from a news station.

Here is the list of songs from the playbill...which should give you an idea to the umm adult nature of this.

We all enjoyed it immensely.

Afterward Laurel and I met up with her fiance and B and C to grab a drink and watch them play pool at Billiards Academy and Sports.

Not really my style but oh well.
As you know I've been selectively avoiding B.
So of course he messaged me the very next day inviting me out again..."just the two of us".
Ugh and I only say ugh because I feel extremely guilty about it.
None the less it was great to catch up with the CanadaCrew girls and I can't wait until our next adventure.
