jeans and sneakers

Pic from here
So against my better judgement AND trying to force myself past MrAttorney.
I had a first date Sunday.
At Joey's at the Shops at Don Mills.
We met for a Sunday afternoon drink.

Just no spark and chemistry really.
And he wore jeans and sneakers (which is the fashion statement I absolutely detest!)
There were some lulls in the conversation.
I think I'm probably just more conservative than him.
He told me he essentially doesn't have a filter.

And that he treats guys and girls the same.
And to be honest he just didn't seem that interested in me.

Also I probably should not have gone on a first date with him seeing as prior to our first date he felt so inclined to ask if I "waxed down there".
(Obviously I told him it was none of his business).
I need to do a much better job screening these things.

Good for Me

Pic from here
On Thursday I had a first date with another guy.
A Lawyer that runs marathons.
At first I was a little perplexed.
Maybe he was nervous...I definitely couldn't quite gauge how I felt.

We had dinner at this really cute French restaurant.
Only a few minor pauses in conversation.
And he seems actually quite nice.

Here's the thing.
There wasn't that zing of chemistry.
Or that instant "click".
But I'm wondering if perhaps all that "click" and "chemistry" I have with certain people doesn't really matter in the end.

Maybe I just need nice and kind.
Maybe I should just be paying better attention to only how someone treats me.
Attraction can grow right?
Is there really someone that has it "all"...will there ever really be that relationship where there is click and chemistry and laughter and kindness and someone that would like to be with me as much as I would like to be with them?
I pretty much thought (a few times during the date) that it probably wasn't "there".
But maybe I should give it a chance.
He just might be good for me.

getting back out there

flirty-first-date-2
Pic from here
So last night I had a first date.
And boy was I nervous.
I went shopping with K before hand.
I had to pick up some goodies for my little nugget I'm visiting in Dallas in just over two weeks!

I started getting really really quite.
K could sense my nervousness and totally tried to pump me up.
I headed over to Joey's to meet him for a drink.

He was 20 minutes late!
I almost went into panic mode like oh my goodness I'm about to be stood up!
But he arrived.
Tall, dark and handsome.

I was just a nervous chatterbug.
The wine was good and before I knew it two hours flew by.
It was good.
And most importantly it made me feel better.
Especially since he made mention that he was surprised I was on a dating website because "you don't seem shy and I'm sure you get set up frequently".
I just giggled.

At the end we walked out together.
Myself to the subway stop (I've started taking TTC (Toronto's public transit) downtown when I work downtown).
He mentioned for the second time that he had fun and we should do it again soon.
I agreed but we didn't make actual plans.
He hugged me and I kissed him on the cheek but was so nervous I'm not sure if I turned away from him kissing me.
Ack!

But all in all last night was just what I needed.
Starting to get my groove back just a little I think!

may as well

Pic from here
Some stellar advice on the last post.
I can't believe how much better I feel when I read y'all great supportive advice.
So what have I decided to do.
Make it two first dates this week.
One on Tuesday AND the one on Thursday.
May as well right?!
Here's to moving on full force.

Blanking

So y'all... I just realized during my daily snip-its of convo with Taylor
That I completely blanked on a post about a first date with MrRealtor.
Not sure why I didn't write about it but it was likely because of my internet crashing multiple times in August.

So about two weeks before my Dallas trip on a random Tuesday night...
I went on a blind date/set up from me being at my co-workers wedding single
(read here if ya missed it)

He came to pick me up and he was cute!
I thought...way to go co-worker for the handsome set up.
And he wanted to try a place his best childhood friend talks about and frequents.

Of course I happily oblige because I love trying new places.
So we went to Church Aperitivo Bar.
It's in the Queen Street West neighborhood of downtown Toronto.
Pic from here.
Church doors heading outside
Pic from here  these are the inside doors.
Pic from here.  Kind of easy to miss at night!

Pic from here  Love the sign and the simplicity because it was a church.
As we walked in MrRealtor is like "no way".
And said "no way what?"
His friends that recommended the place were there with two other couples.
I suggested he go say hello while I sit down (because umm hello that could get awkward).
Pic from here
Pic from here
Upon returning he assured me that this wasn't planned.
And I laughed telling him, "well I guess your friends really do like this place".
Admittedly I was distracted and just a little "off" that night anyway.

We decided to order a bunch of stuff to share (my FAV style of eating).
We had...
  • The crostini and selected black olive spread, cured salmon, roasted red peppers and sauteed wild mushrooms.
  • Polenta Fries with side of spicy tomato sauce and fontina, gorgonzola truffle sauce.
  • Meatballs, veal and pork with house made sugo
  • Veal and pork meatballs with house-made sugo ($8)
    Pic from here

The also had really fun cocktails.
I ordered one called The Saint which was Vanilla Smirnoff Vodka, Prosecco, Cointreau, lime juice, and apricot nectar.
It was delish.

I had a good time though.
Afterwards we debated about going out for drinks but couldn't find Barchef
(the place he wanted to take me to).
I said if we drive by it and miss it then we can just call it a night.
So we did.

The night ended with a hug.
I couldn't really read him to be honest.
We said we would hang out again but I wasn't sure.

I'll give you a hint.
We did.

A date with B

So on Tuesday I had a date with B.
He is a friend.
Remember the awkwardness of this night...and then my second thoughts months later here and here.

Well he asked me out for a date.
And since he had heard of all my sort of not so great dating stories I figured I certainly should give him a chance.
He suggested Terroni on Adelaide.

I didn't have the heart to suggest somewhere else though I had been there recently with MrConsultant (a different location/same menu) and previously before with MrKent.
I messaged him during the day to ask him if we were meeting at the restaurant or before hand (ie. what I was trying to say is "hey if this is a date...pick me up!")
He said "meet there...is that okay?"
So obviously I replied "sounds great :)" because I suck at saying how I really feel.

I was so so so incredibly nervous!
I was just a chatty cathy talking a million miles a minute.
He is pretty chatty too so that was okay.
We had some great food.
But I couldn't help but glance around and hope not to see MrKent or recall that date.
Anyway I quickly zoned myself back into conversation with B.

Afterwards he walked me to my car that was parked close to my work.
And as we stood there chatting.
I was nervous...and found myself saying "I had a really great time hanging out"...I mean I did but something about it seemed so automatic like it is my go to line after a date.
It's like I don't want to make the person feel bad.

And then I was panicky as I went to hug him but he was sort of leaning down.
And I thought well I can't kiss him.
So before I knew it he kissed me and then  I kept kissing him because I was so worried about it being awkward!
And it was fine.
I mean it was good.

And as I drove home I had a little bit of a freak out.
As in what the HECK am I doing?
Am I dating too much? Am I still not over MrKent? Should I take a break from all this dating? Should I move out of the country?
Total freakout.
So obviously when I got home I reached out to Taylor.
Who instantly made me feel better by telling me "you're not doing anything wrong".
And it made me breathe a little bit easier.

Then Laurel messaged me ...here is how it went down.

Pravda= MrPravda, Dentist=MrDentalSurgeon, Ottawa guy=MrConsultant...just to help you keep it straight:)

The blank is MrKent

So yea safe to say I was having a little bit of a freak out!

Thank goodness B is going to Vegas/Cali on vacation so I can have some time to sort out what to do about him/this situation.
Part of me thinks I'm actually not ready for a boyfriend if that person isn't the right one.
But part of me thinks I'm so ready for a boyfriend if it is the right person.
I think I was/am bummed because I really thought MrKent was the right person.
Boy was I wrong.
What am I going to do?
Of course my ridiculousness had me lined up for a date the next night...Wednesday a date with MrPravda.

Thursday Night Pseudo Deja Vu

Thursday night brought about a first date with a guy I met Saturday night out.
Who I could barely understand over the loud loud music.
Who I was excited to see.

He picked me up from close to my work location.
And I instantly felt like it was a much CALMER start to the date than the one on Wednesday.
In all seriousness I am valuing more and more being able to relax and feel like a woman.
You know to be taken out.
I get it and please don't hate me or think that I'm incapable of a decision or anti-feminist.
It's just nice to feel like a lady...or rather this is what relaxes me.

He was all dapper and suggested Italian.
Even though I had it the night before I was excited.
Then he pulled up to Gusto101.
Seriously.

Only he ALSO did not make reservations (seriously PEOPLE!  Make a darn reservation already!) and we were tight on time because I had an appointment to pick up so dresses I was having altered.
So instead we headed to KiWe Kitchen.
(It is on KIng WEst hence KiWe).
King West Kitchen
Pic from their website.

We decided to sit on the patio and soon settled into some conversation.
King West Kitchen
From their website.

And picked out things from the menu we started with the
Burrata cheese, grape tomato, arugula, olive oil & crostini
It was only soso.

For the mains he ordered Seared Wellington County strip loin, seasoned fries, veal sauce
I ordered the Spaghettini, white shrimp, Orwell Cove mussels, fresh herbs and white wine sauce
Only when the food arrived...I was brought the Spaghetti, tomato sauce, basil, Reggiano
I hate to be high maintenance so I didn't say anything.

MrPravda noticed.

He asked if I wanted to send it back.
I said it was okay (and also we were tight for time).
Even though I know I ordered something different.
MrPravda asked me multiple times but I didn't want to be a bother.

The food was okay.
Nothing really special to be honest.
Before I knew it we had to go.
And as he pulled up to drop me off he asked if I needed to be walked to my car.
I said no (though I really would have preferred if he did).

What is UP with me lately not saying what I should?!?!
Annoying.
Anywho I went to hug him and he pulled me in for a kiss.
It was nice.
It really was too short of a time hanging out to know if there is anything there.
Perhaps more of a spark than with MrConsultant.

But I'm thinking way too much about everything.
Like should I be waiting for a relationship to grow slowly.
Or does there need to be that intangible something.
The thing that makes me fall too hard and much too fast.
Or is that just a huge mistake waiting to happen?
I just don't know.
I just know that I'm kind of getting frustrated...and sometimes bored of all this dating.
Maybe I'm just a little tired is all.

Another First

Pic from here

As in another first date.
So on Tuesday I took a deep breath.
Threw on a cute dress and heels and walked nervously to my first date with MrDentalSurgeon.

Are you raising your eyebrow at me?
Yes MrDentalSurgeon does the same thing as MrDentist.
And both have similar dark features and a few other things in common.

Oh well.
I didn't want to hold it against him because really I hope no one would compare myself to anyone else either.
Well I guess MrKent did but whatever....wow this may just be a really b*tchy post.

Anywho.
We had exchanged a few messages/texts/phone calls.
So it was time to plan the date...so OBVIOUSLY I put the decisions on him.

He came up with three suggestions.
And they were 1. The Keg 2. Earl's 3. Jack Astor's.
And here is where I turn into a super b*tch.
And obviously none of the following things did I tell him
(or else I think he would think I was a super snob!).
Oh yes AND these were in the order of what his preference would be.

Here are my thoughts.
First let me explain each one.

1. The Keg (I believe a Canadian chain though there are tons in the US too)- it's a steak place.  They actually do a really decent steak and I enjoy going there 1-2 times a year.  But here's the thing I live in one of the coolest cities in the world with hundreds of cool places to go eat!  Why on earth would The Keg be a top choice?

2. Earl's - I've never been.  However, it is on Thursday nights (this date was Tuesday night so not really the issue) THE meat market/pick up place of Bay Streeters (Toronto's version of Wall Streeters).  If you drive by (which I've done) on a Thursday you will see a ton of sexy suits and women in their tightest tiniest dresses, sky high Louboutons and clutching whatever newest hand bag is in style.  (Clearly this is not my type of place...I would feel so self-conscious around these women!)

3. Jack Astor's- again I actually really like Jack Astor's and it is a go to staple.  In fact Taylor and I went there on her last trip here.  My parents like it and I even went on a date with MrKent to one.

I'm just a SUPER snob and wonder out of all the restaurants in the city these are your top three?!?!?!
So of course I replied with something nice like,
"I'm good with all three.  So whatever you think is great :)"
Because I'm a people pleaser like that.

So I meet him at The Keg on York.
Choosing a spot on the patio we finally have great warm weather here.
He was sweet asking if I was too hot we could move inside.
I obviously was like heck no!  I love the heat!

Pic from here

The place was fun.
I had a great glass of wine and we both ordered steak.
And he was cute.
There was definitely a lot of awkward first date timing/conversation things going on.
It's hard because obviously I'm going to compare it to what I experienced previously.

His style is different (think more European) versus New England prep (the style that makes me weak in the knees).
He also wore running shoes with jeans which kind of bothers me...now y'all are probably thinking I'm a HUGE snobby b*tch.

He was really nice.
He told me I looked like Jessica Alba (which always has me grinning ear to ear).
He also walked me to my car.

And we had another awkward exchange where he suggested we go out again immediately followed up by if I didn't want to that was cool.
So I did the only thing I thought of to break the awkward shuffling and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
Which surprised him (and myslef).

I had a fun time.
I probably would go out with him again and see if it was just nervous energy that made things awkward...
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd hope that he doesn't take me to another chain restaurant.
(Finishing off with a super snobby b*tchy comment...wow).

One under the belt

So yesterday I had my first date with MrMD.
And y'all I was so SOOOO nervous!
I was frantically messaging Taylor before hand so I would have something to do while waiting outside the place we were meeting.

I wore a cute outfit I will try and post pics later in the week.
Anywho I was a nervous wreck.
So much so I wrote about it before hand.

So I was early (as usual) so I decided to wait outside the place in the sunshine.
As I tried to look cool (and busy myself with my phone!)
And tried not to fall over in nude high heels.
I noticed my pantyhose was rather shiny in the sunlight.
Taylor reassured me that it was very Kate Middleton so I felt a ton better.

And walked up and I smiled nervously hoping it was this guy I was about to have coffee with.
(It was).
I gave him a hug and he told me I looked great.
We grabbed a coffee at the Thompson Diner.
Pic from here

So this is how the Thompson does diner.
(How I think every diner should be but that's just the snob in me!)
Pic from here

So we grabbed a coffee and quickly fell into conversation.
I was nervous so I'm sure I was pretty fidgety.
After we sipped through our coffee's he suggested we take advantage of the beautiful weather and walk around downtown.
(Which just so happens to be one of my favourite activities in Toronto because there is always fun stuff to explore).
My only suggestion to him was that I be allowed to change from my sky high heels into flats (thank goodness I had a pair in the car).

On our walk I found myself giggling (a lot).
And finding an excuse or two to nudge him, touch his arm etc.
He was nice and funny (and cute).
I laughed at his comparison to a random event going on and some drama spilling onto the sidewalk to West Side Story (he seriously referenced the Jets/Sharks!)
Which is perfect for my nerdy self.

Then as we were returning back towards the diner.
He made a comment along the lines of 'I feel like I should take you out for dinner'.
Which was sort of an invitation I guess.
I was so incredibly nervous!
I had some things to get done though so I politely suggested 'sometime soon'.
I told him I had a really good time.

Then the awkward end of the date came.
And it's only awkward because I am the most awkward end of date person!
We hugged and then I found myself (for the first time in a LONG time) turning my face towards his.
(I usually turn away especially at this moment which is why I never kissed MM (and we went on like 9 dates now wonder we stopped hanging out!!))
So we kissed and then I as so super nervous and panicky and freaking out that it was maybe awkward and maybe I was too forward.
Kissed him again!
(Go big or go home I guess...well they were both nice closed mouth kisses...okay now I'm just going into way to much detail because I'm still all nervous about it haha).
So I found myself smiling as I drove away.

Then I heard nothing from him after.
(Usually boys message me right away...well at least in the beginning).
And then today I didn't hear from him until this evening.
I'm totally being melodramatic.

He made some sweet comment about thinking about my smile.
Then we made plans for a Friday night date.
I must like him because my Friday night slot is a premium position haha.
But I'm going to take my time with this one.
And also keep the roster wide open.
Even if I do have a good feeling about this one.

I'm back...e-dating that is.

Y'all just wanted to update you.
I'm back on the proverbial horse.
Back to making dates.

Just got off the phone.
Had a great conversation with MrMD (because MrDoctor has already come and gone).
Well no.
Here's the low down what happened with MrDoctor.
He went to India for 6 weeks and got back in February.
And he texted me.
To invite me indoor rock climbing with him and his friends tonight.
I declined.
Because either I'm his "buddy" or he wants to introduce me to his friends.
And I'm ready for neither.

I need to be a LOT more picky then I was previously.
So first date back.
MrMD this Sunday.

I'll give you an update after it happens.
He has started off on the right foot.
He told me I had the best smile and pictures he has ever seen on EH.
And they aren't even bikini pics haha.

Either way I'm going to just sit back and enjoy it.
Because last time I was all "playing the field" it let me be more open to meeting someone.
Even if MrDentist turned out to sort of be a jerk.

So in honour of this...
One of my new fav songs that I like to listen to when get ready for a date.

Another First Date Conundrum.

So Thursday night after work I had another first date.
This one with MrDoctor.
He suggested a cute restaurant called Vegetarian Haven.
I walked there from work.
He met me there.

It was actually pretty fun.
The food was actually pretty great.
And it was a jam packed restaurant.
So that was fun.

We had great conversation.
We were talking about the volunteer work he does in India on a yearly basis at a village hospital.
I find that incredibly sexy.
We had fun practical work conversations.

Then he dropped this bomb shell.
He lives with his parents.
The dude is a physician and lives ith his parents I find it bothersome.
Am I just being a snobby bitch?
I found it kind of weird.
I get that he is quite busy and does a ton of traveling.
But doesn't that seem sort of odd?
He said it allowed him to save up money and do a lot more volunteer work etc.

So then the bill comes.
And we both glance down.
I reach into my coat and pull my wallet onto my lap.
And we launch into another engaging conversation.

Then the waiter returns.
And we both glance at the bill again.
So I offer to pay.
And the waiter stands there akwardly.
And MrDoctor says how about we at least split it?
As he holds out his (gold) credit card.
REALLY?!?!?!?! split it????
And I smile and say "it's okay I got it".
And it really wasn't a huge deal (the meal was less than $50 - seemingly because these vegetarian restaurants typically don't serve alcohol).

So is this a deal breaker?
Maybe it is a test he does.
Is he worried girls are after his money?
I just felt really really weird about it.
It makes me uncomfortable that someone invites me out for dinner and then I pay.

He did thank me.
And the night ended with a kiss on the cheek (perfectly acceptible).
The next day he sent me a message thanking me for dinner and invinting me to do some indoor rock climbing this week coming up.

Here's the thing.
I don't really want to go.
It makes me feel like it would be awful.
Because I can just imagine the harness (would it make my cellulite-ey thighs and big butt look really prominent?) and me fumbling through beginner rock climbing.
Whereas this is something this guy is good at.
It just seems like it would not be fun.
I can just see myself feeling really self conscious.
Then again maybe I should push myself to go.
I just am not sure.

Plus it's not like we have to date.
He could end up being a great friend.
I'm just guessing I'm not really meant to be with a vegetariancanoerockclimber guy.
Not quite sure that is quite the right match for my supergirlypreppyyogasilly girl me.
Just saying...
So the question is do I go rock climbing???
Stay tuned...I have a date with MrDitcher on Sunday...

Sunday Night Date Night

So I ended up going out with MrEngineer last night.
In a perfectly trendy place.
In a great neighbourhood.

It went well.
I can be a pretty sparkly conversationalist haha.
So we did the usual chat about things.

Definitely less chemistry than MrBrit (read here).
But nice enough.
Better practice at least.
And enough to allow me to go out on a date to try and just get the wheels turning away from the Jacob fiasco this weekend.

We had funny discussions of other girls he met on dates via the internet.
Some that say they are 30 but really are 35 or some that say they are nonsmokers and then proceed to chain smoke outside on the way to the subway.
Heck it made me feel like my drama dark secret maybe isn't half bad.
Because at least I'm honest about my age (30 gulp!) and I'm a nonsmoker.

And then something funny happened.
We got up after he picked up the tab (bonus point for him).
And as we walked out of the restaurant and toward the subway entrance.
I noticed something...

His profile read 5'7".
I didn't want to stare because something didn't seem right...
At the conclusion of our date/different subway trains to take.
I went to hug him and...
I was the over hugger...do you know what I mean?
I'm 5'3.5" (the .5 is important).

I'm the girl...and usually  a total underhugger.
Like this chick

Pic from here
So this simply won't work.
And OBVIOUSLY he wasn't 5'7" not even close.
And the fact that if you lie about stuff like this...who knows what else you are in store for.
It made me giggle the whole subway ride home.
Because all I could think about was this Sex and the City episode (Season 3 Episode Two).
You know the episode where Samantha dates a boy that wears a jacket from Bloomingdales Boy's Department.
bahahahahahaha
I don't think there will be a second date.
Just saying.

Quick updates...because I've fallen behind

Pic from here

In the last week or so...

MrFinance responded to Eva's text response (the itsnotyouitsme excuse that she wrote him on my birthday) with...
Hey Teagan.  Happy belated bday.  I hope you had a great day.  Thank you for letting me know.  I understand and respect your decision.  However, I would like to say that I believe in who you are as a person and believe that there is potential for us to be great together.  I wish you the best as well.
And part of me debates whether it is worth a shot...but sometimes the spark just isn't there.

I went to the Jay-Z and Kanye West concert.  It was AMAZING.  They are truly talented and consummate professionals.  Not only did they play music from their collaborative album Watch the Throne.  They played all their good hits... like Golddigger, Stronger, Hard Knock Life, Big Pimping and their interaction with the crowd was incredible.  There was 50 foot rising platforms with video on all sides that was amazing too.

That day I also had my work review.
It went awful.
I can't even begin to get into it but it went horribly.

At the above mentioned concert I may have had 5 or 6 glasses of wine...oopsie can we say stressed much?!

On Thursday I had a ROUGH day at work...after the previous already rough day.
And I was set to meet up after work for a date.
A date from online...that I sort of wasn't that excited to attend.
I picked the place and I had to keep pushing back the time and I looked like CRAP because I came from work....and I wasn't expected it to be all that great to be honest.
Well we met.
And our 7:30 drink date turned into a bite to eat and then lasted until after 11:30.
The conversation was amazing.
He was so cute.
And bonus points English accent...so we will refer to him as MrBrit.
And hopefully you will hear a lot more about him.
I'm trying not to get too excited about him yet.
We are supposed to hang out again but nothing yet set in stone (darn it).

But I'm being hesitant to message him but I really want to.
Maybe I should message him.
Ughh maybe I shouldn't.  I won't for now.

Friday was work Christmas party.
Which was awkward considering how Wednesday went.
And I got hit on way too often and it is such a boys club and I can't quite grasp that I'm apparently supposed to use this to my advantage only I have no idea how.
And I left feeling all aggitated and stressed.

Saturday I went shopping with another sorority sister and then we watched Breaking Dawn Part One.
It was okay.
To be honest I was kind of disappointed.
I was supposed to meet up with another boy for a date only he got "kidnapped by his friend to a club downtown".  You can bet I scratched that.
Even when he messaged me the next day to hang out.
Yea I don't think so...if this is how you are for a first date imagine what he would be like when he is comfortable in a relationship?  I'm all for saying no to date-ditchers.

Another one who I was supposed to go on a date with this coming Wednesday we've been texting.
Based on his text messages alone I don't want to meet him
But now I don't know how to get out of it.
Let's call him MrEbonics.
Because everytime he texts it goes like this.

I am going to d gym.
chat l8tr
how was d weekend
how d weather in TO?

Seriously...and it completely bothers me!  So I think I'm going to not go on this date.

So much so that I already planned another date with MrEngineer on Wednesday.
I know can you keep up? Because I barely can!
But it's fun.

Tonight was another trip to the vet because of my dog.
He is not doing well and this has me pretty stressed.
He totally was crying in the vet.
And I could barely keep it together.
He is sleeping in my lap right now and I do not know what I'm going to do if he continues to not do well :(

So the quick rundown of upcoming things...
Tomorrow I am hanging out with my sorority sister Laurel.
Wednesday date night with MrEngineer.
Thursday we have a night alumni event at a place called Eat My Martini :)
And Saturday Jacob is supposed to come into town for a visit.
Oh wait did you read that right?!
Yup I was hoping to gloss over that...

My life is totally nutso right now.

Saturday, October 22, 2011

First dates, freezing, and the question of the day... am I shallow?

So today was the first date with MrFinance.
And it was good.
I had fun even though I was seriously nervous.

It took me awhile to figure out what to wear.
I wanted to at least have something red on (which is Toronto FC colour).
And comfortable shoes to walk in.
So this is what I picked.

So I drove downtown to meet MrFinance.
We met close to his place and then walked to the stadium.
The conversation was flowing and there was enough stuff going on to keep us chatting.
We sat with this view of the Toronto skyline in the background.

First Toronto FC game and it definitely has me amped to go again.
It was exciting though because it was a regular season game (the last) it ended in a 2-2 tie against New England.
Here is the starters from today.

Soccer boys can be so very cute...

The game was great but I was FREEZING though because I left my jacket at home.
MrFinance was sweet enough to give me his jacket during the game.
We may have even missed a goal or two becaue of our non stop chatter.
We agreed on our favourite player was a forward ... Here he is playing today.

There was sort of an awkward end...like I'm sure most first dates are.
He asked me if I wanted to hang out again soon.
I honestly wasn't sure what to say so of course I was like "yea that sounds like fun".
He wanted to know what my week was like.
I stammered...he then said something about maybe scheduling at a later time.
And I said something dumb like, yea let's see how the week looks.
Then I akwardly hugged him which is at least a step up from MM.

So does it feel like I'm avoiding getting to something important.
I kind of am because I have a question.
Here's my question...how much does physical attraction matter?

Would I crush on MrFinance without his good personality or would he catch my attention from across the street...unlikely (if I'm being honest).
His personality is great...and I did have a fun time this afternoon.
The soccer game FLEW by...enough so that we only really had one drink at the game.
And when we got the drinks I got ID'd!!!  And if you don't know the drinking age here is 19!
I am 10 years older than the legal drinking age.
That's kind of crazy right???

Afterwardthe game ended we walked to a small bar a few blocks away and had coffee with Baileys to warm up.
I paid for the coffees (he got us the soccer tickets and drinks at the game).
But I'm not sure how to proceed.

So at the end of the day...do looks really matter?
It's not that he is unattractive at all...just not my usual type.
He kind of looks like an asian clark kent (thats what I think of when I see him and it is a compliment because I actually really like his thick rimmed glasses).

So here are all the things I like about him.
-He was fun and we had nonstop chatter.
-He lived in London for 2 years with work so did a bunch of traveling
(kind of like how I did in Singapore).
-He is therefore wordly and well traveled.
-His favourite holiday is Christmas (mine too).
-We have similar tastes in music.
-He is really active both socially (had a wedding to go to tonight and went out last night with friends) and physically (bikes, plays volleyball, does yoga, plays golf and tennis).
-He is smart.
-He came up with a fun unique date (Toronto FC game).
-He was a gentleman and offered me his jacket when he was cold.
-He enjoys cooking.
-He likes fine dining and different food experiences.
-He both listened and talked.
-He likes musicals (which is sort of one of my secret nerdy things).

Things that I'm unsure about...
-physical attraction
-his parents came to visit from out West where they live and stayed for 5 weeks (I know I"m weird about the whole parent close realtionship thing because it has sort of gotten me in the past)
-I paid for coffee.  You see I can't decide if this is fair or not.  In my mind in ALL my previous relationships I paid for at least half and often more.  And not that I need someone to take care of me...but seemed a little to easy to pay for something and that is something I'm at least being more conscious of becuase of how badly I've been burned.
-No compliments (in terms of you look pretty or anything like that...wait he did say I was adventuresome...I also didn't compliment him to be fair).
-He rides a bike in the city with no helmet (this would make me worried...I know I'm such a nerd!).
-left around 4:30 and no text follow up (I like the follow up and it has only been a few hours...just all the guys I ever ended up dating follow up immediately with massive compliments...or I guess persistance...to be honest that is how Spencer won me over...I was never initially super attracted to him etc but he was persistant).

So here are my questions...(and I recognize I totally overanalyze things which is clearly evident in my blog).
1. am I being too picky?
2. should I go on more dates with MrFinance?
3. am I being a total shallow bitch?

Then I was driving home and the WEIRDEST thing happened.
A car with a guy and his friend pulled up beside me and I happened to look over.
And the guy is like "excuse me" and making the roll down motion for the car window.
So I do and he say OH my god you are so beautiful.  Let me take you out PLEASE.
And I giggle and just shake my head and say "no thanks that's okay".
To which he replies "and your shy!!! You are shy look at you and so beautiful"
AND I kid you not this goes on for 20+ street lights.
To the point where he is blocking traffic on my right side when I get stuck behind someone making a left turn...and people are honking and getting angry at him.

For a split second I debating giving him my number.
Even his friend was like "come on we should have turned 10 lights ago please just give him your number!"
But I didn't and not going to lie...it kind of made my day.
And three stop lights after a couple pulled up (they must have been one of the honking cars behind him) and they shouted over "did you at least give him your number?"
And I just shook my head no.
And continued to come home...to start my big exciting Saturday night of packing to move next weekend.
