Oh you fancy, huh?

So to prepare for my trip to Dallas (where I am RIGHT now!)
Saturday afternoon to get out of the house between napping and being sick I went with Laurel for a mani/pedi.
And OH I wish I took pictures to show you!

It was a Groupon.

Have y'all tried it?

I have yet to have a great experience with GroupOn.

Maybe I'm a snob when it comes to getting manicures and pedicures.
And well I certainly appreciated the $4 mani on the streets of Thailand.
There is something to be said of "you get what you pay for".
Looked decent enough...bright and clean.

I remember having a fantastic pedicure by where Taylor lives right now which is sort of the area I actually lived in for 2 out of my 3 years in Dallas.
It was so great.
We both loved how she would take a paintbrush at the end.
Dip it in nail polish remover to outline each toenail.
It made each one look PERFECT!

Or on my trip there in 2008 when Taylor and I went for Pedicures at Nordstrom's!
Or at my mum's place with the massaging chairs and jet tubs to soak my feet.
So this Groupon place it took us three days to get a hold of someone to make an appointment in the first place.

Then they told us they could only do 2 girls at a time.
We assumed it meant they only had to estheticians.
We originally had four of us going...then it was down to three (Laurel, myself and Laurel's sister-in-law-to-be who is also in the wedding party next year).

So that would be great because I would get to meet her.
So they way the receptionist had us schedule it was myself at 3pm and the other girls at 4pm.
I joked around that as long as they don't pull out a bucket with a trashbag in it we were good to go.

I shouldn't have joked.

Not only did they pull out a plastic bucket with a white trash bag in it with some blue cleaning looking solution but the water was cold.
The seat were just two leather armchairs side by side.
From their website...FYI these are NOT pedicure stations.
Pic from their website....their manicure stations.
Laurel didn't believe me when I texted her to give her the heads up.

Then I realize there is only one esthetician.
So when Laurel and her sister-in-law-to-be show up it looks like they will do them one after the other.
So our fun afternoon of getting mani's and pedi's soon was stretched out into an assembly line of let's just slap some crap on get it off.

With only one esthetician it took forever.
When we called we specifically said we wanted to have our services together.
We understood if they only had 2 staff that there would be some stretching out but this quickly became ridiculous.
If they had explained there was just one esthetician it would have been fine.

And it was SO weird because before we began Laurel asked "how many estheticians are working?  Can we get this done at the same time so as not to be here too long".
And the answer was the receptionist (saying "yes I will do at the same time, just give me five minutes") This five minutes turned into 20 so the other esthetician started on Laurel.

Then the receptionist came in and got started.
And we are pretty sure she probably is not a licensed esthetician.
But then started shouting at the other esthetician in another language.
SO then the esthetician starting helping her and it was poor Laurel's sister in law one foot in the bucket with a lady scrubbing kind of one foot in the air with a lady slapping on some kind of exfoliating mix and a lot of shouting.
We were flabbergasted!

There was zero customer service.
I've never been to a spa that didn't offer a glass of water or anything.
I get it it's a GroupOn but aren't you trying to turn these clients into regular repeat clients???
The GroupOn was $29+tax for a Shellac Mani & Pedi.
But this service at this place is usually $80+ !

There is NO way I would ever pay $80 to have that experience again.
They were rough, brief and honestly didn't give a crap what they were doing.
As she was doing my hand she didn't even remember to do the final seal coat on one hand.
I had to tell her that she forgot.

Needless to say it was a ridiculous experience and we will not be going back.
Laurel was the first to check out (and yes I was there a full hour before her).
And the lady said "how much tip did you want to leave?"
Laurel said "none, I would like to pay the taxes for the service (GroupOn is prepaid)."

And the lady QUESTIONED her "what do you mean no tip".
Laurel explained, "a tip is for service, there was zero service here we have been here almost 3 hours!"
The lady then screamed in the spa "she gave you NO TIP" to the esthetician while Laurel's sister-in-law and I looked on wide eyed.
It was seriously a terrible experience.

In the end if you want to have an extremely slow service and crappy service.
Go the GroupOn route.
I don't do the mani/pedi thing very often.
I'd rather save up and spend a little extra and enjoy the experience.

For example at the Elmwood Spa (which is one of downtown Toronto's TOP places to go to a Mani/Pedi would cost you $110 which I think is much better spent than the $80 at this place).

I guess in the end it looks the same.
I picked the CND colour Gotcha!
I do love that your nails are completely dry when you are done.
I could comfortably did in my purse etc.
THIS is a HUGE deal for me as I'm terribly impatient and have multiple times ruined a freshly done mani or pedi!
Pic from here.
I think feet are kind of gross so I apologize...but wanted to show you the colour!

Definitely a lot of shine with the Shellac mani!  I'm a french girl all the way :)

But I think in the future I would rather enjoy the full experience.
Have y'all every tried a GroupOn and had it fail miserably?
Do you like the Shellac process/finish?

how I ended up in Chicago one night

So this is a much overdue post of how I ended up in Chicago on the first Saturday in August
It was a long holiday weekend here in Canada.
I knew we (MrDentalSurgeon and I had plans for Saturday night I just didn't know what).
So in my impatience (because we all know I thrive under a plan)...I texted him at 2pm asking if we were still on for that night.

He called me and said, "so umm how about we fly to Chicago for the night, can you be ready in an hour?"
I was nervous but ummm hello Chicago!
So I quickly packed and got ready to travel with him.

1. I totally love traveling with a man.
I think it is so super romantic.
2. I usually dress up to travel because it's fun (and also only when it is a fairly short flight).

Before I knew it we were at the airport going through security.
He arranged for us to stay one of the W's in Chicago because he remembered the W is my favourite!
And as we drove in I was so super excited.
Pic from here.
When we checked in we asked if a city view was possible (who wants a lake view anyway haha?)
Which upgraded us to an awesome room!
I wish I had taken pics...instead I snagged some off their website for you.
We stayed at their city centre one.  Pic from here.
Pic from W hotel site...this totally screams Hello Teagan welcome to Chicago!
Check in area...LOVE
Loved this lobby.
Romantic little nooks!
Loved the dark chairs.
Our room looked like this...I enjoyed the quote thoroughly.
That awkward moment when you agree to one king sized bed.
I seriously LOVE the W hotels.
I ALWAYS have an incredible time.
I can now add Chicago to that fab list that includes...New York, Seoul (Korea), Barcelona (Spain), Chicago...believe it or not I have not actually stayed at the W in Dallas yet!

So the concierge was fabulous as per usual and got us reservations at a steakplace Chicago is known for and a cool new bar that was in the style of a speakeasy.
So we quickly changed.

First we headed to Harry Caray's.
Boasting Chicago's greatest steak.
Pic from here.
We were WAY overdressed.
It was more of a family place with one too many teens in short shorts pouting over their cellphones at dinner.
Here's the entrance into the dining area we ate in.
Pic from here.
At least they had tablecloths and linens (and not butcher paper and crayons if you catch my drift).
I know I know I can be such a snob sometimes!
Pic from here.

Dinner was good.
MrDentalSurgeon had to excuse himself twice during dinner for long periods because he was having some reflux issues.
Which left me often dining alone.
It's likely because he wolfs down his food barely breathing but anyhow.

After a late dinner we headed to Untitled at about 11pm.
Modeled after a speakeasy.
Thank goodness our concierge had gotten us on the list because there was already a massive line.
Oh yea I forgot to mention Lollapollooza(spelling?) was happening at this time...so the fact that we scored an awesome hotel and reservations anywhere in the city was a miracle in itself (we simply had no idea this was going on until the lady at the concierge desk told us-she could have got us tickets but thank goodness MrDentalSurgeon isn't into things like that-I'm so not an outdoor many hours play in the mud concert kind of gal).

Couldn't tell much from the outside.
But once inside I fell in love with it...

Pics all from official website.

So we settled into the cutest little table beside the stage.
You can see it at the top left of the next pic.

And listened to the amazing band.
This wasn't the exact band...but I can't find pics of the one we listed to.  Which was a female singer, and four guys with different instruments included the ones above!
So we indulged in many cocktails.
I had KirRoyale's (a few too many).
And as we closed out the bar and stumbled into a cab I was having an amazing night.
Until we got up to our hotel room which started to spin.
And before I knew it I was on my hands and knees in front of the toilet.
Not how to make a good impression.at.all.

I was so super humiliated.
In the wee hours of the morning...we made out a lot but didn't take it that far.
I'm impressed he made out with me after hearing me hurl for a few hours before.

Then we got up to go explore the city.
And as I got ready.
I thought I was going to die.
It was different than being hungover though.
It was almost food poisoning esque.
MrDentalSurgeon looked at me and said, "you do not look good".
So instead of exploring Chicago and having fun.
I ended up having to lay in bed until 2pm.
And I was so upset and humiliated.
But I literally could not move or eat or anything.
MrDentalSurgeon went to go grab lunch and brought me back Advil and a Vitamin Water.
And before I knew it we were headed back to Toronto.
At least I didn't puke on the plane.
But Sunday night I had a birthday party of one of the CanadaCrew to go to and I didn't make it because I was still feeling awful.

So that my friends is how you turn an amazing trip to Chicago into a horrible embarrasing mess.

Maybe that's why MrDentalSurgeon is not really that interested...

Friday Night

So Friday I had another date with MrDentalSurgeon.
He wanted Thai but the got worried after reading reviews of a new place.
So instead he wanted to go somewhere he had been before
(obviously because that is what he does!)

So we headed to Thyme 4 Pizza & Pasta this total hole in the wall in the Etobicoke area
(ie. mega-suburby...sigh!)
I couldn't really hide my disappointment...
MrDentalSurgeon was like "you totally hate this".
To which I plastered a fake smile on my face and said "no this could be totally fun."
Which made him laugh and call me a terrible liar.
Screen captured it for ya off Google earth...I mean come on you may be a tad worried too right?  Seriously the place looked totally sketchy!
Don't let the nonwebsite only listed on UrbanSpoon deter ya!
It ended up being super good.
Even if I was a tad snobby in the beginning.

I had the Mussels and a garden salad.
MrDentalSurgeon had the Penne Arrabiata and added chicken to it.
We shared a half litre of the Chardonnay from Cave Springs (the vineyard we toured for Eva's bachelorette party...and the ones who produce the bottle Taylor and I had during her first visit to Toronto when we went to Auberge on her last day in 2011).

We had some wonderful conversation.
I found myself giggling and laughing and having the types of conversations where in my head I'm like "okay you need to stop talking because you are talking WAYYYYYY too much!"  and then I couldn't stop!
When the bill arrived...we thought there had to be a mistake...it came to like $52!!!
How great is that???
Which should teach me to quit being such a snob!

We debated on what to do after.
He suggested a movie.
I clearly wanted to chat his ear off.
So I suggested what he had suggested on this date...a trip to Dave&Busters.
Pic from here.

So off we went to another suburbey type activity (I know kinda of cringe-worthy right?)
First we had a couple of drinks at the bar (where I totally still just nervously chatted away...obviously though still clearly avoiding the Spencer topic).

I totally beat him at Basketball!
Which was awesome.
He beat me in Daytona car racing...so I guess it was pretty even.
We were having the best time and stayed right until they were closing at 2am!

Then we were sort of driving around.
He asked if I wanted to check out his new office being built.
He hadn't been up to see it in about a week and he was curious to see what they had done.

So we headed there.
I totally though police would see us in the office and ask what the heck we were doing there at 2am.
There is totally no window covering at this point...just flooring, cabinetry/counters, rooms divided etc.
So of course it just led to a funny made for TV movie make out session amongst tool boxes etc.
This man is too good with his hands to be anything but trouble for me!

At around 3:30am we decided to head home for the evening.
He dropped me off at my place.
I was blissfully tipsy and exhausted.
He suggested he pick me up from my co-worker's wedding the next night.
I may have agreed...to be continued.

Another First

Pic from here

As in another first date.
So on Tuesday I took a deep breath.
Threw on a cute dress and heels and walked nervously to my first date with MrDentalSurgeon.

Are you raising your eyebrow at me?
Yes MrDentalSurgeon does the same thing as MrDentist.
And both have similar dark features and a few other things in common.

Oh well.
I didn't want to hold it against him because really I hope no one would compare myself to anyone else either.
Well I guess MrKent did but whatever....wow this may just be a really b*tchy post.

Anywho.
We had exchanged a few messages/texts/phone calls.
So it was time to plan the date...so OBVIOUSLY I put the decisions on him.

He came up with three suggestions.
And they were 1. The Keg 2. Earl's 3. Jack Astor's.
And here is where I turn into a super b*tch.
And obviously none of the following things did I tell him
(or else I think he would think I was a super snob!).
Oh yes AND these were in the order of what his preference would be.

Here are my thoughts.
First let me explain each one.

1. The Keg (I believe a Canadian chain though there are tons in the US too)- it's a steak place.  They actually do a really decent steak and I enjoy going there 1-2 times a year.  But here's the thing I live in one of the coolest cities in the world with hundreds of cool places to go eat!  Why on earth would The Keg be a top choice?

2. Earl's - I've never been.  However, it is on Thursday nights (this date was Tuesday night so not really the issue) THE meat market/pick up place of Bay Streeters (Toronto's version of Wall Streeters).  If you drive by (which I've done) on a Thursday you will see a ton of sexy suits and women in their tightest tiniest dresses, sky high Louboutons and clutching whatever newest hand bag is in style.  (Clearly this is not my type of place...I would feel so self-conscious around these women!)

3. Jack Astor's- again I actually really like Jack Astor's and it is a go to staple.  In fact Taylor and I went there on her last trip here.  My parents like it and I even went on a date with MrKent to one.

I'm just a SUPER snob and wonder out of all the restaurants in the city these are your top three?!?!?!
So of course I replied with something nice like,
"I'm good with all three.  So whatever you think is great :)"
Because I'm a people pleaser like that.

So I meet him at The Keg on York.
Choosing a spot on the patio we finally have great warm weather here.
He was sweet asking if I was too hot we could move inside.
I obviously was like heck no!  I love the heat!

Pic from here

The place was fun.
I had a great glass of wine and we both ordered steak.
And he was cute.
There was definitely a lot of awkward first date timing/conversation things going on.
It's hard because obviously I'm going to compare it to what I experienced previously.

His style is different (think more European) versus New England prep (the style that makes me weak in the knees).
He also wore running shoes with jeans which kind of bothers me...now y'all are probably thinking I'm a HUGE snobby b*tch.

He was really nice.
He told me I looked like Jessica Alba (which always has me grinning ear to ear).
He also walked me to my car.

And we had another awkward exchange where he suggested we go out again immediately followed up by if I didn't want to that was cool.
So I did the only thing I thought of to break the awkward shuffling and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
Which surprised him (and myslef).

I had a fun time.
I probably would go out with him again and see if it was just nervous energy that made things awkward...
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd hope that he doesn't take me to another chain restaurant.
(Finishing off with a super snobby b*tchy comment...wow).

Florida "the feelings" post

Pic from here

First to clarify.
I'm not a writer.
A rambler yes but not a writer.

So I need to sort out and try to describe the feelings I had while in Florida.
I don't think I can do these feelings justice but I need to get them out here because I can't carry them on me right now.

It's hard to describe everything I felt while I was there.
The nervousness I felt when the car service picked me up at 4:30am.
Heading through the Toronto airport.
The butterflies and heart racing as the plane touched down in Florida.

Part of the anxiety is that it seems like Spencer's state.
And I think of how he flew out of this airport multiple times to come visit me in Canada.
And for a second I worry that I'm going to run into him at the airport.
And really what I mean by that is that I'm actually worried I will run into him with a woman who is way more beautiful than myself.

Then the other things hit me.
I was supposed to be here.
This was supposed to be my state.
Home.

And the tightness I feel in my throat is a little overwhelming.
Matched with a weekend of my parents picking me up from the airport.
And I try to stay composed.

Then the feeling of walking outside.
And the sun on my face and on my skin.
And its like feeling warm and cozy.
In sharp contrast to the grey cool of Toronto.

And as we leave the airport and head to WholeFoods to pick up groceries.
Glancing at others in their doing their grocery shopping.
And the pang of jealousy.
I want to be you.  I want this to be MY grocery store.

Heading to my parent's home.
Driving into the gated community.
Perfectly manicured.
Tennis courts and a golf course.

Driving up to my parent's friend's (Lindsay and Jack) house (who live 8 doors down from my parents).
The same ones that I wrote about back here if you remember.
And I was hit with the realization.
THIS is the very house Spencer first my parents in April/May 2010 (wow it was that long ago).
He ended up spending the whole day with them and Lindsay and Jack.

I tried to shake that out of my head.
And the thoughts of what on earth happened???
And the "what if's" as if what if things had gone different.

The first night there I went for a run.
The warmth was there.
It's a comfort about Florida too.
Which is a strange juxtaposition to the Spencer anxiety that creeps in there.

But when I'm there it's a mix of extreme belonging.
I feel like I'm MEANT to be there.
It is me.
Versus how in Toronto I feel like a foreigner.
This is my home country but it doesn't feel like home.
I said I would give it at least a year.
And that is approaching at the end of July.
And then what?

The world is my option.
However, what I want I don't think is an option.
Florida.
Or anywhere in the states because the complication of visas etc.
But I could look into more so.
Perhaps it is less of a hurdle then I freaked out about before.

One of the best things that we did was drive up to Orlando for a day/night.
My brother and I had suggested we go to Universal Studios (which growing up we went to 17 times!)
So we headed up there and spent the day on rides and laughing.
And it was the good family feeling I had growing up.
It was actually one of the best things I have done with my family in a very VERY long time.
We had so many laughs and just spent the whole day together.
Then we headed to Emeril's restaurant for dinner and Margaritaville afterwards.
And it was the family memories I remember that I loved.
And it was just such a great awesome feeling.

There was some rough times too while I was there.
Mainly when a few select people asked me about Spencer.
And about how I was supposed to be living there now and "how FUNNY that you are hear now " dripping with venomous sarcasm.
It came from the same person who asked me for tips on planning her upcoming wedding in my hometown.
Seriously.
I totally wanted to punch her in the face.

Then at Easter brunch with Bella's mom and dad (my aunt and uncle) at Top of the Point.
And my other aunt and uncle (my uncle is a prominent politician in Canada).
All who have homes there.
My uncle the politician pulled me aside at brunch.
He said, "you know Teagan you really are a unique beautiful person.  I know this must be tough for you but you know what?  You have a sense of class and style and deserve the good things in life.  It's interesting to have watched you grown up.  You have an elegance and a class that people can see.  All these things that you want and enjoy in life will come.  Don't worry."
And I was stunned.

He got that.
I felt like he understood me.
No one understands me in my family.
But he did.
In a random little conversation between the carving station and salad station.
And I started to feel less guilty about the snobby feelings I've been having.
The feelings that I belong to a certain level of doing things.
And I feel like a total snob for liking these things.
But I like them.
I like manners and etiquette and all the things that seem very WASPey.

It's almost a guilt feeling or like a secret I'm carrying.
But every single cell in my body feels like it's screaming it!
I belong here (FL).
Which is just very hard to deal with when I clearly cannot embrace where I do currently live with even close to the same amount of enthusiasm.
It really isn't for a lack of trying.

But it doesn't feel the same and I don't know if it ever will.
And I'm left wondering if I will always be in constant wanting for the land of sunshine.

Another delivery

It happened again yesterday.
(Just like last Friday).
Yup another rose.
But this time a card...

Ummm rightttttttttt.
I'm sorry y'all but I'm finding it a little creepy.
I haven't even MET you in person yet dude!
And I hadn't addressed anything to him because we never talked about the last flower delivery...in fact I've sort of been avoiding his text messages...
This is becoming so totally awkward at this point!

One under the belt

So yesterday I had my first date with MrMD.
And y'all I was so SOOOO nervous!
I was frantically messaging Taylor before hand so I would have something to do while waiting outside the place we were meeting.

I wore a cute outfit I will try and post pics later in the week.
Anywho I was a nervous wreck.
So much so I wrote about it before hand.

So I was early (as usual) so I decided to wait outside the place in the sunshine.
As I tried to look cool (and busy myself with my phone!)
And tried not to fall over in nude high heels.
I noticed my pantyhose was rather shiny in the sunlight.
Taylor reassured me that it was very Kate Middleton so I felt a ton better.

And walked up and I smiled nervously hoping it was this guy I was about to have coffee with.
(It was).
I gave him a hug and he told me I looked great.
We grabbed a coffee at the Thompson Diner.
Pic from here

So this is how the Thompson does diner.
(How I think every diner should be but that's just the snob in me!)
Pic from here

So we grabbed a coffee and quickly fell into conversation.
I was nervous so I'm sure I was pretty fidgety.
After we sipped through our coffee's he suggested we take advantage of the beautiful weather and walk around downtown.
(Which just so happens to be one of my favourite activities in Toronto because there is always fun stuff to explore).
My only suggestion to him was that I be allowed to change from my sky high heels into flats (thank goodness I had a pair in the car).

On our walk I found myself giggling (a lot).
And finding an excuse or two to nudge him, touch his arm etc.
He was nice and funny (and cute).
I laughed at his comparison to a random event going on and some drama spilling onto the sidewalk to West Side Story (he seriously referenced the Jets/Sharks!)
Which is perfect for my nerdy self.

Then as we were returning back towards the diner.
He made a comment along the lines of 'I feel like I should take you out for dinner'.
Which was sort of an invitation I guess.
I was so incredibly nervous!
I had some things to get done though so I politely suggested 'sometime soon'.
I told him I had a really good time.

Then the awkward end of the date came.
And it's only awkward because I am the most awkward end of date person!
We hugged and then I found myself (for the first time in a LONG time) turning my face towards his.
(I usually turn away especially at this moment which is why I never kissed MM (and we went on like 9 dates now wonder we stopped hanging out!!))
So we kissed and then I as so super nervous and panicky and freaking out that it was maybe awkward and maybe I was too forward.
Kissed him again!
(Go big or go home I guess...well they were both nice closed mouth kisses...okay now I'm just going into way to much detail because I'm still all nervous about it haha).
So I found myself smiling as I drove away.

Then I heard nothing from him after.
(Usually boys message me right away...well at least in the beginning).
And then today I didn't hear from him until this evening.
I'm totally being melodramatic.

He made some sweet comment about thinking about my smile.
Then we made plans for a Friday night date.
I must like him because my Friday night slot is a premium position haha.
But I'm going to take my time with this one.
And also keep the roster wide open.
Even if I do have a good feeling about this one.

Monday night with the girls

So I told y'all I had last night I had dinner scheduled with Missy again (from this post).
Anywho I debated over what to wear to sushi.
Then figured it would be a low key girls night.
So I decided on this.
Using the boots again.

Showing you my accessories...and no I don't mean my cleavage haha.

I headed to her condo (which I found out my colleague pays for incidentally).
It was so pretty and right smack downtown.
I even felt myself get a little emerald eyed.
And as she finished getting ready we were chatting and it was kind of nice doing the girly thing.
And y'all I'm really struggling because I'm girly and not quite feeling like I fit in sometimes with my Waterloo girls though I LOVE LOVE LOVE them.

She then let me know that the Playmate would be joining us.
Yes that one from this night.
To which I replied the more the merrier (heck why not).

Side note:  ever feel like the fat kid?
I totally did these girls MAYBE
weight 100lbs a piece and I'm super curvy.
So umm yea there was this total awkward moment
when I'm like...they are looking at me
like I'm this dumpy average girl...
total side note ignore me.
However, I do note I've been
pretty tough on myself when it comes
to my body lately.
Weird I just noticed this...
I hope this isn't going to become
a trend and I hope this hasn't
been too annoying...has anyone elsee
noticed this???
Feel free to ignore this side note ramble!

So the Playmate picked us up in her boyfriends car (does anyone actually pay for anything themselves?!).
It was super exciting to hear that the Playmate had just scored the lead in a hot new music video shooting this week!
What a fab fun lifestyle...seriously.

We got in and after realizing the place we were going to for sushi was closed for Family Day (our holiday yesterday).
We headed to the Thompson hotel for sushi.
Yes THAT Thompson hotel.
The one that practically screams MrDentist and if I was a gambling women I bet he stayed there this weekend.

So we got to work ordering sushi and got right into some big conversations about boys.
And I told them a little bit more about MrDentist about sort of the progression of things and then how he fell off the face of this earth.

And Missy filled me in on some things.
Here are her "facts":
1. He really like me he talked to her about me for an hour before Vegas.
2.  In Vegas he talked about me...a lot.
3. He told my colleague he thinks I'm "the one".  (Is your heart beating way fast???) I think I threw my hand up at that comment.
(Yeah well someone else (well both Spencer and Jacob) once told me that and you see how THAT worked out).
4.  All the women he has most recently dated are 5-8 years older than him...making them in their early 40s.  The reason this is important is apparently they are the "pursuers" unlike me who is very VERY clearly a "persue-e"
5.  He did tell the guys he was falling for me.
6. BUT he said he didn't want to because he wanted to get his life more together first*
(Ok this does NOT make sense to me...does it make sense to anyone else?!)

So the Playmates perspective....she said either.
* He does really like me and he's scared
(The Rules CLEARLY disagree with this).
OR
* He is a big time player and these are all the lines he uses

(The Rules would TOTALLY agree with this one).
I clearly bought and devoured The Rules (a dating book) this weekend...just saying.

So after much debate and discussion.
It was determined I should call him today.
And leave a breezy message along the lines of "Hi you, haven't seen you in awhile, we should do something"...I say leave a message because I fully anticipate getting his voice mail.
Which is not to say that I have decided to call because dear blog readers.
I want YOUR advice.
I suppose a call couldn't hurt or make me feel that much more embarrassed.
But what do you think????

We also had a big discussion about Missy and my colleague.
She was trying to decide to move on or stay put.
It was really interesting because clearly something is working for her.
Maybe it is the university tuition, condo and 30K new car budget he has given her (she is super mad at the 30K budget by the way)...I think the Playmate and I's eyes nearly fell out of our heads at that one.
And we both sort of said you know the grass is always greener on the other side.
I think I was just FLOORED that this actually happens in real life.
Stunned!
And I learned some other things that BLEW my mind but not really my place to share (I may have over shared already and am half debating removing this paragraph).

Overall, dinner was good.
I had fun and the three of us planned to go to the movies on Wednesday.
Then the bill came.
And since Missy picked it up for our dinner I felt it was only fair to return the favour.
When the bill did come she grabbed it.
And I said "no no I got this one".
And she was actually just CHECKING it then she commented "you got off easy our dinner was $300 last week".  And THAT rubbed me the completely wrong way.
Now that I think about it I SHOULD have said...would you like the $100 to cover the difference?!
But I didn't I just laughed it off.
But I think that is super rude.
AND I do have to say I ordered one glass of wine, edamame (we split) and two rolls (one veggie $5 and one more fancy $15). The playmate ordered one main and one glass of house wine.  Missy ordered three Martini's, a roll and a main.

So needless to say the next dinner I'm going to let them know I'm on a budget (umm because no one pays my rent etc...only I TOTALLY won't say that haha).  And say I'm more comfortable splitting the cheques individually.
And if they don't like that.
Well then,  I guess they just aren't that into me.

I'm back...and a lot has changed...but I'm only going to give you the first part...Friday

Have you read Tay's latest blog update of her trip to the TDot.
I seriously just asked her if I could cut and paste it because I have too much other stuff to catch y'all up on.
I might just do that...

Anywho
SO last I left you I had gone on a Thursday night date with MrMarble.
That confirmed it was going absolutely nowhere (read here if you missed it).

Then Friday I had this epic date planned with MrDentist.
After a week long of phone calls and getting to know you conversations including a very late night one.
I was super nervous.

The whole week felt so surreal.
I had a ton of stuff to do at work so the week had this weird slow/fast thing going on.
I was definitely ready for a party on Friday.

I even had my hair blown out again because I was a straight up bundle of nerves y'all.
I wore a black cocktail dress and my fur.
I didn't take a pic (oops).

Then I drove downtown and checked into the Thompson.
The beautiful glorious Thompson Hotel.

Love.  And with room features like this...

And I found this note on my bed.

A reference to my favourite flower (peonies) and some hotel chocolates.

I went up one floor to his room to meet another couple for dinner.
Where the drama was already starting.
I don't think I'm going to go into details of the drama.
Let's say the other couple turned out to be a colleague and his mistress.
Yup.
Seriously this apparently happens in real life.

We went to dinner at Scaramouche.
A fabulous old world restaurant.
Often touted as one of the most romantic restaurants in the city.

How gorgeous is this view of the whole city.  AND these were the types of clientele all around.

I was excited.
We ordered cocktails to start...and it was all a downhill shenanigan (is that even a word?)after that.
It was almost like we were a group of porn stars in church.
I don't mean how I was dressed though it was debatable from some of the others.
It was embarrassing actually.
Which is probably why I didn't suggest pictures.
I manage to only snap these two below this night.

My first Oysters ever!  I actually liked them but I have to do at least 1-2 chews.

Delicious amuse-bouche!

There was this weird tension.
Mistress and MrDentist seemed to be getting into the biggest tiff's of all.
She was being so very rude and disrespectful to him and he was losing his patience.

My colleague just seemed to cower and not stand up and do the right thing.
It made things very awkward.
There was also a weird thing when the bill came and MrDentist ended up picking up the tab for all 7 of us.  Yes this thing went from 4 to 7 people.
Did I mention the reason we were all out was for the Mistress's birthday.
So you can see how this night was going.

Also the Mistress never touched her food.
I thought maybe she wasn't feeling well.
Or maybe she has some kind of eating disorder.
However her trips to the bathroom were very frequent (more about this later).

MrDentist and I did have a sense of chemistry going on though.
And we were able to connect a little bit.
He said I had a beautiful smile (I think that is a great compliment from a dentist)
and he also said "wow you look incredible" when he first saw me.
(I must have been beaming and I was thinking...blow out worth.EVERY.penny).

Then the argument/disrespect/shenanigans elevated to a whole other level.
And MrDentist walked out.
And I walked out after him.
If only to try and be the peacekeeper in this whole situation.
I didn't understand why we couldn't just all get along.

The original four of us then headed back to the hotel and up to MrDentist's room.
Where we proceeded to have more drinks.
The mistress wanted to go home to change out of her gown.
So even though there was some clear tension the four of us all agreed to go.

Only when we got down to the hotel lobby bar we ran into two of the Mistress's friend (let's call them the Playmate (seriously she is) and her friend).
Then all of a sudden the Mistress wasn't so keen to go home and change.
MrDentist was just getting more and more annoyed.
My colleague was beyond drunk and tried to put the moves on me in the hall to the bathroom.  It made me incredibly uncomfortable.
I had to pull out some cat reflex ninja skills to escape into the ladies room.
Where I found the three girls in the same bathroom stall.

The mistress was "sick" and they were "holding her hair" which I now know was actually code for they were all snorting blow up their noses in the bathroom...classy.
I bolted.
Stormed past my colleague.
Found MrDentist and suggested we go have drinks in the rooftop bar.
And we did.
Also passed by Cuba Gooding Jr on the way up (I LOVE this hotel).

We (seriously unintentionally) ignored any messages from anyone else.
We ended up talking until the bar closed.
Then we headed back to his room.
And we sat and talked and listened to music and drank wine until 5:30am.
Then I finally said I had to go down to my room.

So he walked me.
We kissed... twice.
And it was perfect.
Then I invited him in for a drink.
And we totally fell asleep clothes on cuddling.
And y'all I was in heaven.
It was simply perfect.
To be continued...with Saturday and Sunday update posts.
