Saturday/Sunday

So Saturday like I said first I went brunette (huge change).
And what else to do after that but head up to Kingston.
I hadn't seen Jane since I threw her and Eva a baby shower in the fall.

Saturday was Jane's official due date so we planned for one last girly sleepover... provided her daughter hadn't made her grand entrance.

So I drove up to Kingston.
It turned out we changed plans because Jane's parents wanted to celebrate her younger brother Ted's birthday so I crashed the fam jam.

Ted wanted to go to Red Lobster.
I don't think I've eaten there since I was 15!
So I met them over there.
Pic from here
And it was much less disastrous then I thought it was going to be (foodwise) lol.
It was great to catch up with Jane's parents too.
After that we headed to Jane's house where we proceeded to catch up, watch TV and I painted her nails for her.
And it was lovely and simple and just relaxing.

The next morning we slept in late before heading to Windmill's for brunch.
Kingston is that small of a city that we bumped into Jane's father-in-law there.
It was also packed with Queen's University students.
And rightfully so because it was delicious!
Pic from here
After that we headed down to Starbucks for coffees before I had to head back to Toronto for a birthday dinner.
It was for one of my sorority sisters that I don't know so well yet.
And I'm so glad I pushed myself to go out and I'm so glad I did.
As I'm still pushing to make new friends and grow.

We met at Earl's for dinner and it was super fun.
Pic from here
And then from there I headed to Shangri-La lobby bar to meet with MrRealtor to try to and just end things in  person.
Pic from here
And y'all it was awkward and frustrating and he just wasn't listening.
And so when he walked me back to my car I pretty much just stepped away, hopped in and drove away.
Here's how I know for sure he wasn't listening or paying attention.
He sent me this message;

"I have never seen someone wanna leave so bad so fast like before
Clearly I'm not good for you
At least that's the impression I get from you
Drive safe goodnight"

I guess the 1.5 hour conversation hadn't sunk in at that point for him.
Ughhh
And that's how the rest of my weekend FLEW by!

Girl's Night- May Two Four

So I already told you here.
How the weekend started off in the most awkward way possible.
I stayed flustered for the next hour at least.

I got the girls set up with some cheese, bread, strawberries and wine
from St. Lawrence Market.
Then busied myself tidying up my place.
Trying to keep my flustered self occupied.

I was so flustered I dropped my ironing board.
Which sent Jane, Brooke and Brooke's daughter into fits of giggles.

I couldn't believe my nerves!

We lazed around and watched Ramona and Beezus.
It was fun looking through magazines and catching up.
Then we painted our toenails...all in all a pretty fun girly afternoon.
I miss these afternoons.
I miss these girls.

Then we headed to Jane's brother's house.
To meet her newborn nephew.
Who was just the cutest thing ever!

Before we knew it...it was after 9:30.
And we were losing Brooke's daughter fast.
She hit her wall of exhaustion.

So we headed to Pizza Libretto for some take out pizzas.
Pic from here

Just like on this date with MrKent!
We got the

Ontario Prosciutto (tomato, basil, mozzarella ) ..... $16
House-made Sausage (caramelized onion, mozzarella, chili oil ) ..... $16
Cremini Mushroom (bufala mozzarella , gorgonzola, roasted garlic , rosemary, thyme, pecorino) ..... $17

Pic from here, the Cremini pizza

And it was delish!
I highly recommend this place.
AND because these traditional pizzas are cooked in 90 seconds (at 900 degrees).
It is super fast take out.
Pizzeria Libretto danforth

So we opened some wine and gorged our selves on pizza.
Watching the first episode of The Bachelorette.
Before crashing for the night.

Sunday morning we woke up and got all dolled up.
Brooke's daughter and I wore matching pink bow headbands.
We first headed to Aunties and Uncles which was rated #1 by BlogTo.
Only they weren't open...which was both weird and annoying because they had no signage as to why or anything on the website.

So we quickly looked up the article once again and picked BlogTO's #3.
Saving Grace.
And boy were we glad we did.
Pic from here

We were a little worried when there was an hour wait.
(Mainly because we had a hungry 6 year old with us).
Luckily there was the cutest cafe across the street.

Loved the small detail's like the blue print on the coffee cups!

So we bounced across and got lemonades for us bow headband wearing girls.
And iced coffees for Jane and Brooke.
Which absolutely helped time fly by.

It definitely helped fill the time we waited.
Yup that's my new Lilly Pulitzer dress!

We were seated in the window seat.
Check out the menu.

All of us grownups got The Angela sandwich.
I asked for the tomato chutney on the side.
The girls wished they did too only because it was a little too sweet.
I thought the sandwich was AMAZING!
AND really that was the only critique.
It was a lot of food the sandwich came with a good size salad and roasted potatoes.
We all would definitely go back again.

So super cute...though only about 20 seats...no wonder it gets so jam packed!

Then we headed to Val's place downtown (Brooke hadn't seen it yet).
Before heading down to Harbourfront.
A really cool area on the lake.
Pic from here

They had a bunch of kids activities/shows...Circus themed this weekend.
Brooke's daughter had fun so that was important.
Pic from here

Pic from here...we did watch this fire juggler for a bit.

Before I knew it we had to head back to my place.

Brooke and Jane made plans with Eva and Quinn in Kingston.
So they had to get back on the road.

So umm I get what you're thinking (well probably).
No I didn't bring anything up about St.Patrick's Day weekend.
I know I should have.
But I was just enjoying the weekend so much with the girls.
I really really missed them and having a fun girly weekend.
Saturday night I totally crashed because I was just exhausted!
Plus I had plans with MrKent for a Monday night date...

Twelve

So Friday I had a really crazy day at work.
I really seem to be saying that a lot.

Nevermind...moving on to fun things...like Date Twelve with MrKent.

He came to pick me up.
I wore my new JCrew dress from this post.
I also packed an overnight bag (just in case you wanted confirmation of that type of thing).

We headed to the Distillery District.
I've been a few times (once with Taylor's first trip here).
I love the old cobblestone streets.
Walking along there with the gas lamps.
It is just so romantic.
Especially on the arm of the sexy MrKent.
Pic from their website.

We decided on the Mill Street Brewery because Archeo was closed for a private event.
I was a BUNDLE of nerves because we were meeting two of his really close friends.
I was sort of worried.
Mainly because I really really like MrKent.
Anyway Mill Street Brewery was lively and full of energy and the perfect place to meet some of his friends for the first time.
Even if I was all shaky and nervous.

Pics from their website.

The ARE a brewery!

So they came and they were seriously the nicest couple ever.
We had a great time.
Plenty of laughs.
Time just flew by.

Afterwards they had an early morning so they called it a night.
That left MrKent and I to walk around downtown looking for a place for a nightcap.
I tried to pretend like I wasn't dying to know what his friends thought of me.
I get so worried about things like that.

As we were walking around we spotted a new Jack Astor's downtown.
Which is so not usually our type of place.
Partly because it's a chain (and why on earth would you go to a chain restaurant when you have all these unique fab places in Toronto to explore).
But it used to be a Tim Horton's and Wendy's and MrKent seemed so SO excited to check it out.

Pic from here

So we popped in.
And I will say we were pleasantly surprised.
No traditional Jack Astor's decor here (ie. no large cartoon chalk boards).

Even the servers were wearing more Toronto hostess type attire
(ie. silly t-shirts kept to a minimum).
I couldn't find a single picture online of what it looked like.

So we had a nightcap before heading back to his place.
The next morning we lounged around until noon.
Before heading to Le Petit Dejeuner (that is French for "breakfast").

pic from here

Pic from here

A teeny tiny place near MrKent's condo.
Sort of looked like a hole in the wall.
Sparkly green single booths anyone???
Seriously I loved how fun they looked!

Pic from here

The food was delicious!
Some yummy coffee.
I had the
Eggy Fried Bread: caramelized french toast with fresh fruit, maple syrup and chantilly cream 9.75

Pic from here

Mr. Kent had the
Waffle Benny: like Eggs Benny without the English muffin, one egg only 11.50

I would definitely go back again.
Then we headed to St. Lawrence Market so I could pick up some cheeses and fresh strawberries for the girls visiting this weekend.
I love wandering the market with MrKent.
Seriously could not wipe the smile off my face!

We started to head back to my place.
Only I totally misjudged the time.
I thought I had another hour.
As we were driving up the highway...I got a message of "we're here" from Jane, Brooke and Brooke's daughter.
And I started to panic.

Because how could I have him drop me off and NOT meet the girls.
But I'm seriously the most AWKWARD person ever.
I think he could tell I was in full on panic mode in the car.

He's really amazing.
But at that moment I was panicking.
Panicking because of the last person my girls really met was Spencer.
And I just didn't think they would meet MrKent at this early point.
And I just became a bundle of nerves!
I was practically a wreck.

I think I mumbled something about "well I guess it's fitting that I met your friends last night you can meet some of mine today".
So we parked and I brought him into the lobby of my condo.

And then I remembered it all happened so fast!
I was in a daze.

Jane gave me a big hug first, then Brooke's daughter than Brooke.
And I introduced them (awkwardly to MrKent).
And they said hi.
MrKent even shook Brooke's daughter's hand.
Someone made a joke about parking passes.
(I was just completely flustered and could barely put together a sentence!)
Then I *think* I made the suggestion to head upstairs.
BUT THEN I turned to MrKent and said, "so ummm are you going then???"
Seriously.
I am the most awkward person EVER!
SO he was like "yup sure".
And I went up on my tiptoes to kiss him goodbye.
Before furiously blushing and schlepping off to the girls.
Who were like "uhhhh where's he going???"
To which I just opened my mouth a few times (with nothing coming out)....which sent Jane and Brooke into a fit of giggles.
I was just so flustered.
And I stayed COMPLETELY flustered for the next 30 minutes to an hour.
Well I certainly totally screwed that up!

I then sent him a text saying "thank you for coming in to meet my friends I'm sorry if I made that totally awkward".
To which he replied "haha.   No problem.  Not at all!"
How sweet is he?!
Because that totally means yes you were completely awkward!
Ughhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

The girls found it absolutely hilarious what a flustered mess I remained.
I think it's because I really actually like MrKent.
And that is how I ended date Twelve in the most awkward way possible!

Weekend Update with Will in Words

Usually I try and make my posts pretty and lovely and nice.
This whirlwind weekend will become a whirlwind post.
Because I just want to get it all down.
So it might be rambly and random but I don't really want to forget it.

I could be silly and say it was emotional because I had my period.
Well I did but it wasn't because of that.
Work sort of had me down this week.
I had taken on an extra bonus project
(killing myself staying up until 1/2am some nights finishing it).
And turns out I'm not getting paid for it.
(I was told originally I would be in a certain way and now they are structuring it differently so I won't).  And it's a whole big ball of wax that I can't get into because work blog post I don't feel comfortable with at this point.

Anywho so Friday I got stuck late at work.
I was supposed to be at a NLL game Friday at 7:30 meet for dinner before hand at 5:30pm.
With Will coming in at about 8:30pm.
MY NLL ticket was $35 we got these a few weeks ago.
Well when I found out the timing of Will getting into town I realized the game would like go until 9:30/10 so I got him a ticket (which at the non-group rate in our row was $77!)

So I got stuck at work.
Until 8:30pm.
Will arrived at 8:00pm downtown.
My phone died at 7:18pm.
I don't work close to downtown on Fridays.
F*CK.

I was so terribly upset (mostly due to work) and now I was late and Will was wandering downtown and I had (once I plugged my phone into my car to charge) like 8 messages from the CanadaCrew about where the heck was I and my friend?
So I RUSHED downtown without makeup/jewelry/feeling any kind of okay.
By the time I met up with Will it was 9:40.
I had been so stressed my stomach was in knots.

So we missed the game (and I spent $100+ on unused tickets...so annoying!)
We settled for a drink at Ki downtown.
Quickly caught up about work/life/love etc.

I was worried because I hadn't seen Will since the night before I moved to Singapore when he joined my family and I for dinner.
We catch up every few weeks/months but we quickly fell back into our regular banter and relaxed
nature.

We had dinner reservations for 10:30pm at One in Yorkville.
We had a wonderful dinner.
Then we headed out to meet his two friends at The Drake.
Which was so much fun and playing SO much great music we were having a blast and danced the night away until close around 2am.

We then headed to my place.
And all stayed up drinking and chatting.
His two friends were staying in a guest suite in my condo (like a hotel room on the ground floor).
They went to bed at about 3:30am.
Will and I stayed up catching up and watching the first episode of season two of the Walking Dead that he got me hooked on.
So we were side by side on the couch and there was this 2 second little bit of awkwardness of me being jumpy and his hand settling on my knee and me being all butterflies/yet panicky like is his hand on my knee for an extended period?!  And is this weird because we had just talked about his gf who I'm not sure I really care for (because of how she treats him) but as quickly as these thoughts flashed through my head they disappeared and we were all the norm of our hang outs (I'm such an over analyzer sometimes!)
We finally forced ourselves to bed at 6am (I can't remember the last time I was up that late!)
And he slept on the couch in case you were wondering.

We woke up at 11am.
I cooked breakfast for the boys before we headed downtown.
Our plans were to go to the SteamWhistle Brewery in Toronto.
Val was set to meet up with us.
As was Jane and her husband and Eva and her husband.
Well on our way downtown we were told due to St.Patrick's Day there is no way we would get into SteamWhistle by Jane and Eva.
So we waited on a suggestion.
Val suggested another pub called Madison Avenue Pub.
So we headed over there at about 3:30pm.

There was some kind of confusion though.

I had tried to call Jane around 1pm when we were heading out and didn't get through to her.
When I got through to her at 3pm she was driving from downtown to where Eva lives
(about 45-60minutes from downtown).
I thought weird why would she do that.
Then I figured well to cut out the driving and I figured they were staying over night there.

So the boys and I settled into a booth at the Madison.
We grabbed a bite to eat and watch it steadily fill in with a TON of people
(being St. Patty's and all).
So we wait and Val arrived at about 5:30pm.
She quickly comes over and we sort of commiserate on the weird change of plans and messages from everyone.
I had suggested SteamWhistle the other girls shot it down...then they seemed super irritated at us when we didn't have an alternative plan and then when we did have one they were being all weird like they didn't really want to come.
They made text comments about maybe going to grab real food (vs pub food) etc.
AND the more I'm thinking about it the more my blood is boiling!

At 4:27pm they were asking if we have a table to eat dinner at.
We did.  However there was 4 of us at that point (to be 5 when Val arrived).
And we were in one of the BUSIEST pubs in Toronto on St.Patty's day so saving all the space was darn near impossible.
At 5:05pm they said "we are getting ready but it will take us awhile to get there".
And that's it.
Which drove us crazy because we were sort of trapped in place (saving the booth) when we wanted to roam around the HUGE place.
It is a cool place built between two big old homes so it is really interesting and fun to wander.
So instead we thought we better stay in the booth so they would have a place to sit if they wanted to eat.

Anywho they showed up at like 6:30/7pm and at that point we had to give up some space (but we had enough for all four of them to sit and eat and we would stand/roam the place)  because it was pretty much standing room only and SUPER busy at that point.
When they walked in the pub.
Val and I immediately stood up and walked over TO THEM and I hugged each of them made some small chitchat (I alluded to the fact that my friends were at the booth (oh about 3 yards to the left) and then they headed directly to the bar.
Ummm YES that is what happened.
At first not a single one of them came over to say hi to my friends.
Let me clarify and just mention Jane knows Will from when she visited me in Dallas.
And part of the reason we tried to all get together was because Will and his friends were visiting.

I was so EMBARRASED and HUMILIATED as Will and his friends asked so are those the friends we've been sitting in this booth in for four hours waiting for???
Yup.
So they proceed to find a place around the back corner of the bar.
Actually I spotted the brief empty bar stools and suggested we grab them for them.
So they sat about 5 yards away from our little booth.
It was horrible.
Will and his friends were shocked at how it was going down.
Not.even.the.f*cking.courtesy.to.come.say.hi.
Then I started coming up with excuses (maybe they wanted to find a place fast, maybe they thought you should come say hi first, maybe they are mad at me because of the decreased seating, maybe maybe maybe).

So an hour goes by.
And can I mention how awkward it is???
Val at this point is sitting with them now.
And I was near tears at this point.
And we can see each other because we are less than 5 yards AWAY in direct line of view of each other!!!

So then Jane comes over to introduce herself to the guys.
And spends about 20 minutes chatting with them (thank goodness).
Then eventually her husband does too.
When he did I took some time to head over the Eva and her husband and Val.
Eva's husband asked me to ask Jane to come back to "their" area.
I sh*t you not.
He also tried to undo my bra.
Yup.
Right in front of his wife Eva.
And it's like this type of behaviour is okay.
I swatted him away.
But I was seriously annoyed...I find that so so disrespectful.
Seriously this is how the night was going down!!!! WTF!!!
So I headed back over to the boys with another round.
Jane and her husband headed back to "their" area.

So now we are trying to come up with a plan whether to leave or stay.
The boys wanted to leave but I didn't want to make anyone mad because after all they just got there about an hour and a half before!
So we debated about leaving what our plan should be etc.
I headed over to my "their" area to sort of feel out what everyone wanted to do.
Val had just ordered some food so they suggested we wait until she is done her food and we could all head out together...awesome hopefully everything would start to go more smoothly is what I was thinking.
So I get another round for us and we wait.
So probably another hour or so later.

Eva comes over for the first time to us.
She says something along the lines of "hey everyone has started to make their rounds by so I guess it's my turn".
Will's friend couldn't hold it in any longer.
He retorted something along the lines of "oh HEY.  How long have you been here?  And NOW you come over? Weird."  And Eva stammered something out.
And I tried to make like it was just a joke.
But it was awkward.
And I was just trying to dig for something/anything to be able to change the direction of conversation.
So I tried to say "hey so Eva is my first roommate from college" then she corrected me how I was her second which is the case but at this point it was so incredibly awkward and uncomfortable it was AWFUL.

Then it got worse.

So I said..."hey so did we decide on brunch tomorrow".

Side note
(Let me back this up and say a few emails exchanged
earlier in the week had gone out...
with me suggesting a cool place no one had ever been to
...then Eva suggesting another place
that was further away (from Quinn and us)
and when I didn't hear anything back by Wednesday
I sent ANOTHER email saying with our big party
I would really love to make reservations...
to ZERO response from ANYONE).
Quinn and her husband were set
 to join us all (
so to recap it would be Quinn, Quinn's husband,
Quinn's baby, Jane and her husband,
Eva and her husband, and me and the 3 boys...
Val had other plans already).

To which Eva said, 'yes actually we decided to do something in our area' (WE as in NOT myself and my friends) because 'Quinn wanted to see Jane and her husband since they haven't really since Christmas (ummm we did in January in Kingston) and we wanted to spend time with the baby'.

I was dumbfounded.
And this all was said in front of Will and his 2 friends.
Who all had puzzled looks on their faces as they knew that we were supposed to be doing brunch all together the next day.

The night continued to unravel.
As we made plans to change locations.
Eva told me they were going to go home because "they're old".
So Val was planning on hanging out with us.
And FYI at this point Eva's husband STILL did not come over to say hello to my friends.

So as we were gathering our things to leave they instead decided to go have coffee in Yorkville and NOT to go home.
We only realized this as we were outside saying our goodbyes.
They didn't invite us, and didn't even mention it to us at all
(though I overheard the whispers on our way out of the pub).
And so then Val had to make a decision.
She went with them to Yorkville.

The crazy thing is me and the guys would have been so down for getting some food and coffee in Yorkville we just wanted a change in scenery.

So I was so upset.
Me and the boys headed towards other bars.
We made a quick Dim Sum (not sure how you spell that) stop in Chinatown.
And refueled with food.
We had some great laughs and they were trying hard to cheer me up.
Then we headed out to another pub for some more St.Patty's day drinks.

This morning we woke up and had a FABULOUS brunch at Brassaii in King West area.
It was awesome.
And with that our weekend was over.
It was so great to see Will I've really missed him.
It was hard to say goodbye.

Then my parents came over again and I hung up some pictures and rearranged my bedroom and I feel almost 100% settled in my place.
I will have to update with photos etc but I just wanted to get it all out.
I'm officially EXHAUSTED and feel just wiped emotionally right now.

I just got a text from Quinn who said "I didn't realize we wouldn't see you at breakfast...how was your weekend with Will?"  Hmmm do I respond with "well I wasn't invited"....probably NOT a good idea if I want to avoid drama (And I do want to avoid drama).

I also just got a call from Val she called to apologize for last night and her ditching us.
We had a good conversation.
Without her saying it I don't think I fit in this group anymore.
Now "my large strong group of girlfriends" needs to be taken off the list for reasons to stay in Toronto.
Which is so incredibly sad and heartbreaking.
And combined with the sadness of a weekend trip with a long time missed friend being over...not going to lie...is kind of sucky.

Bet you didn't expect all of that drama in a weekend update!

A weekend in the Capital

How was your weekend?
Mine was fabulous.
Now I'm just doing all the boring monotonous things such as doing laundry etc.

It started off on Friday.
I came off sort of a rushed day of work.
Met Val at my place and we hopped in her car around 4pm.

First stop Kingston (about 2.5 hours Northeast of Toronto) to pick up Jane and her husband.
But of course not without a light dinner.
My friends are fab, look at this dinner.

Then we all jumped in one car for the ~2 hour drive up to Ottawa.
We stopped for Chai Tea Lattes on the way too.
We had to stop at Joe Fresh for some long johns and winter boots for moi because they determined my Jeans and Uggs simply wouldn't cut it this weekend.
I love Joe Fresh I was able to score some winter boots for $20 and thermal underwear for $4.94!

We headed to Brooke's place where we chatted and gossiped and drank wine and had TLC in the background.
Before we knew it it was 2am and we had to go to bed.

The next morning we were up and at em.
Time for some breakfast.
I love when it is coffee with Baileys!

Look at the spread!

We obviously love to eat!
Then we packed on up for Winterlude.
And got some skates to skate on the world's largest skating rink.
AKA the Rideau Canal.

You can see dead shells of zebra mussels that clung to the walls of the canal.

Thought it was FREEZING!
The sun made it tolerable.
Along with the Canadian snacks.

Ladies and Gentleman allow me to introduce (for the second time, my first time was during this trip to Ottawa)
BeaverTails.

I got the original cinnamon and sugar.

The girls got the "sunrise" which is the original plus lemon to squeeze over.

We to our sugar fix there and headed back to the cars.
Our faces were FREEZING after that and we were ready to warm up.
So we headed back to Brooke's to make soup and sandwiches and grab a quick catnap.

Before we headed to a different province (for you Americans that is like heading to a neighboring state).

So we went to Quebec (Canada's very French province).
As you can tell from the stop signs.

We headed on over to the ice slides.
And all slide down.

Jane, Val, Jane's Husband and I in line (or trench depending on how you look at it) for the ice slides.  And yes I'm totally convinced I will single handed bring ear muffs back in style here.

Then the tube slides.

A girls' picture with a giant beaver.

Then we had to get some true Canadian taffy.

It's essentially boiled maple syrup poured over Popsicle sticks on ice.

Brooke's daughter and myself indulged.

Then we headed home to change before heading out downtown Ottawa.
We went to a FABULOUS place called The Grand.

Where we ate and drank our faces off before heading back to Brooke's place.

How we occupied ourselves with a memory game while waiting for our food!

My starter...mussels in a spicy tomato and prosciutto broth.  And a glass of Prosecco.

A yummy pizza (Brooke and I order two different one and swapped halves).  And a glass of red wine (Valpolocello...that I'm clearly not spelling correctly).

This morning we had another big breakfast of bacon, sausage and eggs.

Before we packed up and started to head home.
First to drop off Jane and her husband in Kingston.
Then Val and I headed back to the TDot.
But not without stopping to get me a new piece of furniture which I will write about in a separate home decor post :)

All in all it was a great weekend.
Am I missing anything???
Hmmm maybe it was getting bailed on for Sunday night's date with MrDentist.
More about THAT later.
Hope your weekend was fab!
